New Year's Curse (Short Story)

I wrote this story because I want to. Sorry for the grammar and typos. Happy New Year Guys.

I reread this and it is not really good. I'll try to rewrite this and make it better for you. HAHAHA

I'm Mark Delagado, a  man with a life full of tragedies and catastrophe, but how did I surpass it all? 

Let me tell you my story. 

My mom died when she was giving birth to me. She died before New Year. I was born at exactly 11:59 and a minute before New Year.

I don't have friends. I'm a loner.  I don't celebrate my birthday because i just remember the death of my mom.

Until I reached 7 years of age, my dad died in a car accident. He was about to take a vacation in Singapore. The accident happened happened 5 minutes before New Year, when he was brought to hospital, he was declared dead at 11:59.

I don't know if it is coincidence or what. My dad told me  a story before the day he died.

He had a girlfriend named Marissa and she's my mother's sister. They had a perfect relationship until Melissa came, that's my mother. My mom lives in Australia but she's staying in the Philippines for good. She stayed with her sister Marissa together with my father because they are living together. Marissa was always leaving the house because of her work. My mom and  dad always left together in the house. My mom doesn't have a work yet and my father is resigned in his work, so he doesn't have a work too. My father was always with my mom rather than his girlfriend. Until the day they realize, they LOVE each other. They had a secret relationship being Marissa's back.

When Marissa found out they're relationship, she pleaded my father not to break up with her and she will give him a second chance, but my father disagree, he loves my mom very much. My parents left the house and they live together. They had a great relationship.

On the 31st day of December, 10 minutes before New Year, Marissa approached my parents at their house. She cursed my parents. She said " You will never be happy, your life will be miserable as well as your child. You will never have a happy family." She killed herself in front of my parents at 11:59.

Despite of what happened, they were married after 3 months and my mom got pregnant.

At first, I don't believe in it. They are not real. But as the time went by, I'm starting to believe on it. Our business was bankrupted and closed. I live with my uncle after my father died.

When I was in 3rd year high school, I had a girlfriend and her name was Lucy. She was quite popular and beautiful. We had a relationship for a year. On our anniversary, I was about to surprise her, but I'm the one who's surprised. I went to her house and saw my girlfriend making out with another man. My heart was breaking into pieces that time. She told me that she's tired of our relationship. She doesn't love me anymore. And when I looked at the time, OH FUCK!, it's 11:59. I AM REALLY CURSED.

Another year came, and I was living like a zombie. I don't care about the people around me anymore. My uncle and his wife separated because of me. Thy were always fighting since I came. I said to myself, "I'm a living curse."

I was planning to commit suicide. I wanted to end this SH*T life before New Year because I'm very tired of my Life. I was standing on the rooftop of a building to end my life. I was waiting for the clock to struck at 11:59. But a girl came and punch me very hard in the face. "If you're going to kill yourself, make sure no one will see you. Do you want my conscience bothers me forever?"

"You don't care and I don't care, just leave me"

"NO, if you jump there, I'll jump there too. That makes my mind clean and makes your sin bigger to God."

"I don't care, and I don't believe in God anymore"

"I believe in God, and why aren't you believe in him? You know, you're a coward and you made me pity you.  You're coward to face all the challenges.  You are very hopeless." 

"I'm tired of those  challenges and I have nothing now"

"OK then, I'll go with you in HELL"

She was about to jump out of the building, but I stop her.

"Okay, okay I will not kill myself anymore, but don't you jump there"

That was close.

"OK then, let's have a deal, be my BOYFRIEND , I'll give you anything you want except for my virginity of course, then I'll make you realize how beautiful life is"

"but—-"

Then the fireworks started to crowded the sky. It was 12. And that's the time my curse was broken . And  the start of magic in my life.

We had a great time time. Until we know each other's feeling, LOVE. I court her.

"Karizza Mendez, you took my heart, and broke the curse. After all the tragedies and catastrophe came into my life, you are my savior and you are my GIFT from above. I love you. Will you be my girlfriend?"

"Y-y-yes, Of course, I Love you too"

We had a very happy relationship. Until a very bad news came to me, Karizza had 10 months to live. Maybe, she'll never make until next year. I cried and cried because she is the only person  I have right now. 

 "Be strong, I don't want to see you cry, because it makes me die early. Are you gay huh?"

I smile to her, I don't want her to see me cry. I just make it hard for her.

We savor and make her days memorable and special. We live each day with happy memories. We live as if we had no problems.

Until our anniversary came, December 31, I was scared because I remember the curse. Karizza was brought to the hospital that night, she was in the abyss of death.

I went to the church and pray to God.

"God, this is the first time after all the years, I came to you, I just wanted you to save Karizza from danger,you gave me Karizza, why are you taking her this early? I want to spend my time more with her, she made me believe in you again. Why her?"

I just cried and prayed. Until the time came where I'm scared the most, 11:59.

When I came back to the  hospital, THE CURSE FINALLY BROKE.
