Now onto the story!

Tom Imura was driving back from the police academy as fast as he could. The radio said things like blackouts throughout the country.
     L.A. was on fire.
     He turned off the radio.
     It was 5:47.
     He was speeding
Isn't that ironic, he thought dryly, a cadet speeding. Under any other circumstance he would have thought that was funny.
     But not today.
     Not now.
When he had no idea what was happening to his family. He pushed that thought out of his mind.
Ahead he saw the wrought iron gate with the gold plaque reading Sunset Hollow, he took a deep breath and scanned his card. No luck.
"Damn it!" He cried out to no one in particular. He looked one last time at the clock on the radio: 5:56.
     He was wasting time.
Tom put the car in park, grabbed his keys from the console, jumped out of the car, put the key into the gate and turned it. He kicked the gate open and ran back to the car. He put the gear in drive and raced into his community, not bothering to shut the gate behind him.
