'JJ's wedding' you thought smiling to yourself as you entered a familiar place. David's house. Wearing your favourite colour dress you walked quietly around until you cross paths with Penelope. "Oh Y/N, how'd you make it here?" she asked.
"I walked." you smile slightly. Penelope looked you up and down before grinning.
"You look beautiful my girl. But I'm surprised you came tonight, considering.." she looked around the house that belonged to a man you were still so madly in love with.
"Yeah...nothing could stop me from missing JJ's big night." you nodded looking at the familiar scene. When you stayed here you made many memories on the sofa you now just stood coldly by. Images of you and David flashed about your mind.
To avoid crying you looked back at Penelope. "Where is everyone?" you asked.
"Just outside. I came in to get a drink. Do you want one?" she asked.
"Sure." you nodded following her into the kitchen. There were lots of different bottles of drink on the table. Strong alcohol, not so strong alcohol and juice. "Wine?" Penelope looked to you.
Looking around and thinking you shook your head, grabbing the strongest drink on the table.
"You go girl." she laughed pouring herself some too. "Let's go."
You and Penelope walked outside where everyone was. The fairy lights mesmerised you. Then your eyes met the couple. JJ and Will. JJ looked beautiful in her wedding dress. You smiled to yourself at the sight of them.
Your eyes then met another couple. Aaron and Beth. You smiled to yourself again.
"Cute, aren't they?" Penelope smiled.
"Yes." you nodded.
Your eyes then met a small group of people. David, Erin, Spencer, Emily, Kevin and Derek. All laughing and joking, you felt almost out of place. You had grown to love this team for years, grown to love being a part of it. But right now you couldn't feel more unwanted.
Penelope grabbed your hand. "Are you alright?" she asked concerned, drawing attention to you two. You nodded dreading when your eyes would meet David's. "Come on." she gave you a reassuring look before pulling you over to the table with David and the others.
"Nice to see you got here safe Y/N. I could've driven you." Spencer smiled.
"Yeah...I needed the walk." you nodded to him.
Your mind instantly flashed to the bank. A few days ago you were injured in the explosion. Your mind flashed to what you had said to David. Under the impression you were going to die, you told him you loved him just before the ambulance took you away. You didn't die, of course. Part of you wishes you had. You and David had split over an argument, a silly argument that you regret.
"How do you look so good after getting out of hospital only yesterday?" Emily asked, causing a few people to laugh slightly.
"Magic." you smirked even triggering David to smile.
"Now that Y/N's here let's get this party started." David walked over to his old CD player to turn on the music. You loved the way he said your name, you watched him as he walked. A calm slow song began to play. Aaron, Beth, JJ and Will were the first to hit the dance floor. Dancing slowly, staring into each other's eyes.
"We take turns okay?" Penelope smiled, "I wanna dance with all of you."
"Wanna dance?" Emily smiled to you. You nodded, joining her on the dance floor. You danced together, mostly talking about how you felt and how she felt. As the song got more up-beat Penelope grabbed you, Emily, and JJ making all of you dance in a circle. Laughing and smiling you all danced as silly dance causing laughter from everyone else.
People traded dance partners. From you and Aaron, to you and Spence.
Whilst you and Spence were dancing, David and Erin were dancing. You heard the rumours around the B.A.U. You prayed they weren't true, but you didn't know.
After the song ended, David and you stared at each other from across the dance floor. He walked over slowly to you as the next song played. 'The Night We Met'.
Grabbing your hand and putting one hand on your waist you began a slow dance. At first it was quite awkward. You didn't understand why, but you weren't going to argue.
"How are you tonight?" David asked.
"I am alright I suppose, you?" you smiled at him.
"I am good." he nodded, "You look beautiful tonight."
"Thank you." you blush slightly.
"It was always your colour." he smiled causing you to chuckle slightly.
"I guess it was. You always had a better sense of style than me."
"Yes," he laughed "I did."
"What you said to me..." he paused for a moment "In the ambulance."
Your heart began to beat harder than a drum. Your breath almost stopped.
"Did you mean it?" he asked, "Or was it a spur of the moment kind of thing?"
"I meant every word I said." you said without hesitation.
Suddenly, the song stopped.
"I need another drink." you nodded going to grab your empty glass on the table and walking inside. David stood alone for a moment watching you walk inside before following after you.
You ran into the kitchen putting the glass down and leaning on the counter. "I'm such an idiot." you muttered to yourself. Hearing footsteps behind you, you turned to see David.
Silence between you.
