You and Spencer had been friends since high school. You had been new to the school when you first saw Spencer. He had been tied around a post by bullies in the school. You had immediately called a teacher and helped him down. You had handed him your jacket so he could cover himself whilst you waited for the teacher's assistance.
You and Spencer had been really close since. You went to conventions together, read together, watch new movies together and you even lived together. His team and both of your families had been trying to get you two together for years, but you were both too awkward to discuss the subject.
Admittedly, you had wanted this for a very long time, you loved Spencer. But part of you said 'he'll never love me like that' and it discouraged you.Over the years, you had both dated different people, or you at least tried to. Neither of you could find a suitable partner that didn't live on the other side of the world. But here you were, re-reading one of your favourite books. You were sat in your comfy pyjamas with a hot cup of tea and a cookie. You always stayed up to wait for Spencer, sometimes it felt like he'd been gone forever.
Finally, after a few hours he arrived home. He smiled as he sat across you. You looked up from your book and smiled back.
"How was the case?" you asked.
"It was alright. It got me thinking though." he frowned in thought.
"What about?" you placed your book down. Spencer hesitated before sighing and speaking."Us." he then made eye contact with you. You felt your heart beat fasten.
"What about us?" you gulped.
"Nothing bad." he reassured, "The stuff the team has been suggesting."
"Oh." you smiled and then blushed.
"I was wondering, maybe if you'd like to go on a date? A no is fine of course. I was just wondering." he smiled awkwardly. You nodded excitedly before jumping up and hugging him.
Suddenly, you heard cheering from the hallway. The team had been standing there the entire time. "TOLD YOU!" Penelope shouted. "I FINALLY GOT WHAT I WANTED! I TOLD YOU SINCE LIKE FOREVER Y/N THAT YOU AND SPENCER SHOULD GO OUT. COME ON YOU ARE PRACTICALLY MARRIED ALREADY!"
This caused you and Spencer to laugh. You then looked to Spencer as he watched the team. You didn't believe in fate, but the idea fascinated you. You were glad you went to that school all those years ago.
