The Accident

A New World

She knew what to expect when the doorbell rang, so she took her leave through the bathroom window instead of walking into a trap. Landing in a crouch Kate Nebula, a Dimensional Rift Scientist, steals a glance towards the front of her house. There is a Stiffs black Escalade in her driveway. Pulling a small black ball out of her pocket Kate syncs the device to the master control box in her pocket, placing the ball on the side of her home she activates the surveillance bot as she stealthily walks around back. Peaking around the corner Kate pulls out the sleek thin box that is master control as she scans her immediate vicinity for any more men in suits. Finding nun Kate proceeds to her basement, after a few swipes and taps on the surface of the master control the secret door opens to her secret lab.

The room is huge and a near replica of the one she just blew up yesterday, "Nothing left behind" Kate says to herself as she transfers all of her data to master control while she preps the rift gate to overload after she makes it through. Using the various surveillance bots plants around her home Kate watches everything inside and outside of her home on a halo display that cover most of the front wall. The Stiff at the front door is impatiently trying to reason with Robo-Kate.

Outside, "please Dr. Nebula we just wish to ask you some questions about the accident at your laboratory yesterday," a Stiff pleads.

"I have nothing to say to you, now leave before you attempt something you'll regret." Robo-Kate state's sounding identical to the real thing.

Still pleading "Dr. Nebula we could really use your technology to better humanity if you willing to cooperate."

"How?!," Robo-Kate snaps, "By killing another Earth?!" Increasing its volume to simulate emotion, "Or using my tech to beat the rest of the world into submission?" Kate is laughing hysterically now at the sight of the Stiff at her door, through perimeter surveillance, and his reaction to her knowledge of what they tried to hide from her.

Preparations are complete, Warp Sequence On Stand By flash over the holo-display as Kate regains her composure, checking her data transfer, it's almost complete. A frame on the holo-display flashes alerting Kate of an armored vehicle approaching the rear of her house, realizing the model Kate frantically runs to the security lock, initiating magnetic lock protection, after a series of heavy locks the lab is safe from any form of weapon made in this dimension. Just as the lock sequence finishes the Ark-tank fires a concussive blast of explosive plasma energy obliterating Kate's house and striking the energy field surrounding the lab. Swearing under her breath the entrance to her lab is now exposed, activating her offensive defense systems, several turrets with explosive rounds come out of hidden compartments and proceed to pin the tank under fire overloading it's energy fields. Her data transfer complete Kate initiates offensive anti air craft for the incoming helicopter as she walks through the gate, initiating a 5 minute timer until detonation. Once on the other side of the gate Kate closes off the only way back to her earth and scrambles the universal coordinates making it inaccessible anymore from this gateway.

After double checking everything Kate goes upstairs to the kitchen, already waiting is a mirror image of herself. "Hey Kattie, did you miss me?"
