CHAPTER 2
"Mercedes, can I ask you something?" He asked staring into my eyes
Oh my god he is gonna ask me out!! I can't believe it! He likes me too!
"Yeah, what's on you mind Hayes?" I asked.
"Do you wanna be desk partner?" Once I heard him ask me that my heart sank.
"Sure, is there anything else you wanna ask me?" I really hoped he liked me.
"HAYES!" Skylynn yelled from the hallway.
"Come play dollies with me!" She demanded.
"Not now Skylynn." He said as she went off crying.
"Sorry about that, There is one more thing I wanted to ask you, you're friends with Katey Jolene right?" He asked.
"Kinda, we sat together in math,why?" I said.
"Well does she talk about me?" He had that same smile on his face as he did when we first met.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME! You like Katey Jolene! That whore. I thought to myself.
"No, never why? Do you like her?" I demanded the answer.
"Uh no." He looked disappointed.
I grabbed his hand a moved a little closer. Tears started running from his eyes, a bit of tears came from mine too. I wrapped my arm around him and said "You like her a lot don't you?"
"Yeah, but it will never happen." He started to cry.
I hate Katey Jolene.
Nash walked upstairs with Skylynn. For once he didn't tease Hayes. Skylynn ran in and hugged Hayes.
"Hayes why are you crying?" She asked him
"No reason Sky." He told her as he wiped away the tears.
"Don't cry if there's no reason Hayes." They smiled as she said that.
Skylynn ran back to Nash.
"Nash, Hayes stopped crying you can bug him now." She said with sass.
Hayes just smiled at me for the rest of the night, it was about 9:00pm when our moms finally came upstairs. Hayes and I were half asleep. My mom tapped both of us too wake up. That moment was awkward. Once we realized we were holding hands still we both jumped up. We all walked down stairs as Pyper's phone rang, It was Matthew. You could hear what they were saying.
"I want you back!" Matthew demanded.
"What you can't just take me when you want me and leave me when you want to." Pyper yelled.
"I'm sorry I was stupid and foolish, but I want you back!" It's sounded like he was crying at that point.
Brent took Pyper's phone.
"Matthew leave Pyper alone!" Brent screamed.
"No, Brent give Pyper her phone back." Matthew was pissed.
" No leave my sister alone. She doesn't want you anymore you missed your chance. You left her. Okay left her. You're not getting her anymore. So stop, just stop." Then Brent hung up, handed the phone to Pyper and stormed out of the Grier's house.
"Meow!" I said as doing the hand gesture. Everyone turned and frowned at me except Hayes who smiled and giggled. Right before we left Hayes slipped something into my pocket. I pretended like I didn't notice till I got home. It's his phone number.

"Hello?" Hayes said
"Hi Hayes, It's Mercedes." I was practically jumping by now.
"Hey Mercedes! I was wondering if you wanted to longboard to school tomorrow?" He asked.
"I would love to but I can't longboard." I'm depressed now.
"I can teach you!" He said excitedly.
"Yeah that would be awesome!" Now I was jumping.
"Great I'll come to your place at 7:59 alright?" He asked
"That's perfect!" I almost fainted.
"Great see you tomorrow bae."
"Night bae!" I hung up.
I was jumping up and down screaming so loud Brent ran upstairs freaking out thinking I was hurt, but nope I was just happy.
