It was a dark and gloomy morning when Maria and her mother had packed everything up, and were leaving their house she was living in for practically her entire life since she was three. She was very reluctant to move, because of the fact that she was going to have to make new friends at a new school. Maria and her mother reached the house after what felt like eternity.
"Ok dear. What do you think of our new house?" her mother asked, but Maria did not reply.
The house was like an old mansion with broken windows and cobwebs, it was something like what you saw in a horror movie. Maria sighed. A three hours long journey including packing, had drained out all the energy in her.
So she look around and went up upstairs, to explore to her new house. She found a closet in her new bedroom, not expecting to find anything but, she turned on the light anyways, and found a wall-mounted mirror in front of her. Curiously she carefully examined the mirror Maria wondered why would anyone put a mirror in a closet where nobody would find it, especially since no one had lived here in years.
She looked in the mirror expecting to see herself, but then she notice that the reflection was different. On the mirror, the reflection seemed brighter, cleaner and more joyful. The summer light shone from the window and the were birds chirping. Whereas in her own world, it was dull gray and dark and was filled with dust and spider webs.
Maria thought that she was dreaming, so with her palm she gently touch on the mirror, she felt something strange...like a water surface, her hands felt cold and wet. With a force full jolt, she fell into the other side of the world and onto the ground.
She landed on a patch of daisies. Maria brushed herself off, and went walked a little further in a little further. Everything in this place was just like what the mirror showed Maria, it was a very bright sunny day, and there was no litter on the ground, like in her world, the birds busily chirped away and the flowers danced in the sun. Curiosity killed the cat right? So, Maria walked in further to the strange land she was in.
Back at Maria's home her mother was in the house getting a little freaked out.
"Maria? Maria? Where are you? Are you in the house?" There was no reply.
Feeling very frightened her mother went to the police station to report that her daughter mysteriously disappeared right under her nose.
