They took places opposite each other at the table underneath a swinging light. A shot sounded in the distance and he rippled the edge of the deck nervously. Silence fell on the room again, but then there came a little gnawing sound from outside, and all the men looked towards it. The door creaked open and It came out of the night and invaded the room. For a moment he continued to stare at the ceiling, then he rolled over, faced the wall, and lay silent. The silence came into the room, and the silence lasted. It was silent outside, all except for It's footsteps, slowly dying away.
