Chapter 1

It was a dreary day. The sky was a dark kind of gray, sprinkles of water were falling to the ground, the clouds were spread out like a thick blanket over the sky. A blanket. That's all I wanted right now. But instead I was working at the local coffee shop around the corner of First and Second Street in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

Business was slow as usual. There were only about five people here, looking at their phones, drinking their beverage or eating their pastries every few seconds. I envied the people that could stay home and cuddle up by a warm fire. SInce I couldn't do that myself, I made a hot cup of tea. At least the tea could warm my insides. I sat on a chair and sipped, staring at the door.

The bell on the door rang as someone came in. It was Anna, my best friend. She was a pretty girl with long, blonde hair and sparkly bue eyes. She always visited me at the coffee shop because she knew I'd need someone to talk to.

"Hey, Brooklyn," she said. "Can I have a cuppa? It's freaking cold out there." She was slightly shaking and I could hear her voice quiver in every word.

"Yeah. Sure."

I hurried over to the counter and made the tea quickly. I burned myself on the hot liquid, but I didn't care.  I handed the cup to Anna, and we sat down at a table near the window. I heard the soft pitter-patter of the raindrops hitting the cement. The sound became amplified soon enough and that's when I decided to start a conversation.

"So, how's your tea, Anna?" I asked

"Fine. Warm. You really need to work on your conversation skills, Brook. You have to find something better to talk about than hot beverages," she said.

We both giggled.

"Well, give me something to talk about then," I told her.

The bell on the door rang again as another person came in. He was a charming, young man, about 20.

Anna pointed at him. "That," she said with a smile.

"Um. Hi. Uh, anything I can get for you?" I asked.

"Yeah, please. Two small coffees would be good," he said.

"Okay. Sure."

Wow. His accent was nice. It sounded very polite. I thought of him while making the coffee. Damn, he was cute. Gorgeous, green eyes. Brown hair that curled and rested perfectly on top of his head.

I handed him the cup and he gave me the money in exchange. I opened the cash register to give him his change, but he stopped me.

"Keep the change," he said with a smile. It was a bright, but mysterious smile.

"Oh. Thank you. That's very kind," I said confidently, although I was melting inside.

He nodded and headed out the door. Out there he handed one of the cups to a woman. She looked slightly older than him, but she was still beautiful. She had dark brown, almost black hair and kind, brown eyes. They laughed and he hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. Was she his girlfriend?

I thought about it, and maybe it was true. The way they looked at each other, laughed. The way he kissed her on the cheek. I opened the cash register again to put back the change I was going to give the man, when something caught my eye.

There was something written on the bill he had given me. "Harry Styles" was written at the top and "(020)-0201-3756" was written on the bottom. I smiled. But then I remembered the girl who was with him. Was Harry going to cheat on her? Or did he just want to talk to me? I was interrupted in my train of thought when Anna came up to me.

"So, how'd it go with Prince Charming?"

"Fine."

"Did he give you a name. Number?"

"Both, actually." I held up the bill so she  could see.

"Harry Styles. Well that sounds like a lovely name."

I looked out the window. Harry and the girl were still there. I couldn't help but stare at him. Then, as if he could sense me looking at him, he turned his head, winked, then smiled before walking away with the mystery girl.

I thought hard, but not long before I told Anna:

"But I'm not so sure he's a lovley person."

And I do have to warn you: I'm not from Europe, more specifically the UK, so I don't really know how the phone numbers or currency works, but I did my best. I'll do more research the more I use them throughout the story. Much love. xx
