The love of parents.

Mom is the name bestowed upon a woman who carries a child in her womb, gives birth to that child, nurtures them into adulthood. A woman who puts her child above all else.

Dad is the name bestowed upon a man who cares for the product of his seed. Picks them up when they fall, cheers them on when they succeed. A man who is supposed to be every little boy and young girl's hero.

But what I got was not a mother

Nor a father

I got a man and a woman who committed an act of which I was the accidental result

Daddy, you never picked me up with I fell off my bike. You never cheered from me when I won my competitions. A hero is not who you are

Mommy, I can't even call you that because as soon as I was out of your womb, you thrust me upon a man who didn't even want me in the first place.

And two years later you committed that same act again, creating my sister. Making not one but two children miserable for life.

The world is a cruel place, it's even crueler for two children unwanted by even their parents.

Drugs, alcohol and other vices should never replace, or take priority over, your children

But I guess I'm not as important as Mr. Smirnoff or Miss Xanax

At a young age I knew that mommy's red eyes and smelly green grass meant her little round friends were soon to follow

Daddy's slurred language and unsteady gait meant to stay out of ars reach

My "parents" hated each other more than they hated being sober

Words like "slut" and "bastard" were used so much, and I was so innocent.

How was I to know my parents didn't love each other

I thought that was how all parents acted

But daddy didn't love mommy

Mommy didn't love him

And neither of them loved their children.
