When we finally got to the next city without any more problems, I immediately started looking for Kira. I've known Kira for about 5 years. She's a great friend, and she's really great with kids. I started feeling guilty about trying to get rid of Zero.
I found her house quiet easily. I knocked on her door and a young kid opened the door.
"Ms. Kira! This lady scary!" the kid cried. Soon an older lady picked up the child.
"Chris what's wrong sweetie?" Then she looked at me. "Oh! um, hello who are you?" She asked, honestly I didn't care if she knows me anymore."I'm Spaze, and are you Kira?" I asked.
She put the child down and hugged me; tight.
"I never thought I'd see you again!" she whisper-yelled.
"I have a favor to ask of you, but it doesn't seem like now is the best time." I said pulling away. She wouldn't let me go,
"No now's the best time, four boys got adopted today and yesterday." She murmured and started crying happily. "I'm sorry for my tears I'm just happy for them."
"Okay, it's cool. I have a boy that I want you to meet, I met him while he was about to get killed. And you know my line of work, I just don't think being with me is the best idea."
"Okay come back in an hour? I'll have the kids dress in there best clothes and help them pick up around the house, see you then"
My heart swelled with joy. "Thank you so much!" I was about to go down the steps when I remembered something, "There might be another boy too hope you don't mind"
"Not at all!" she said and shut the door.
I walked back to the pack and took Zero and the smaller boy, by the name of Jeremy out for a walk. I took a deep breath.
"Okay, so Zero, Jeremy, I know this nice girl. So um, I think it would be safer for the both of you to stay with her." I rushed out. Zero and Jeremy froze, Zero in mid-step.
"Are you trying to get rid of us?!" Jeremy yelled meanly. I flinched,
"No, I'm not, I just, think you should deserve a second chance at a normal life. You could be brother in laws." I felt a tear trickle down the side of my face.
"Spaze, I trust you, and if you think things are getting terrible farther down the road I don't want to be involved." Zero said, "I just don't want you to worry about me, I will stay, for you." I took a shaky breath,
"Thank you Zero. What about you Jeremy?" I asked."Zero does make a good point, what does Carlos think about it?"
"I talked to him and he said that wasn't a bad idea. But you might want to ask him yourself." I replied, "But I at least wan't you to meet her." I went up the stairs to her house and knocked. Immediately the door opened to reveal Kira.
It was as if she was waiting behind the door. "Hello, Spaze, boys"
"Hello, Kira, this is Zero, and Jeremy." I said motioning to the boys. Jeremy waved slightly and Zero smiled.
"I'm just going to go now,I trust you both will do what ever you want." I turned and walked away, but not after glancing in and seeing 4 kids, 1 boy and 3 girls, all dressed nicely.
I walked down the side walk and heard the boys walk in, closing the door.
After I walked back to the pack house Carlos came up to me. "So how'd it go?" He asked.
"Not bad, they went in, at least. I told them that I trust and respect what ever decision they make. I don't want them doing something they don't want to." I replied shutting the door behind me.
Carlos nodded "Yeah, don't want them to do something they'll regret later." When I looked up nobody was in the kitchen, or the small living room.
"Where is everyone?" I asked Carlos.
"Hunting, they thought we could talk about Zero and Jeremy, you know, like, if they wanted to stay or leave." He explained.
"Okay, that's fine," I said sitting down at the table and rubbing my head.
"Where will we go if they want to stay?" Carlos asked, but before I could reply someone opened the door. I lifted my head, and looked in the direction of the door. A boy walked in, blood on his lips.
"Isn't easy hunting these days," He was saying."Are you guys done hunting already?" Carlos asked the boy. He gave Carlos a look saying, what do you think?
"Just asking Romeo" Carlos growled. Another boy followed behind Romeo, who I remembered as Bruce. He carried a dead deer on his shoulders.
"Where'd you go to get that deer?" I asked.
"The forest, a few miles away from here." Bruce replied, then slammed the deer on the large counter and started ripping it up into pieces and placing it on a pan over a flame. When he got to a bone he ripped it out and threw it behind him, where most of the younger boys were, ready to catch and chew on it. When most of the deer's leg was gone Bruce ripped the rest of the deer into 5 main pieces, Head, other legs, and the body with the rest of the hindquarters of the deer. He then went to the large, empty fridge and placed them in.
"That deer will only last about 3 days," Carlos told me, I looked at him,
"If I had a deer that big it would last me 3 months" I said. He shrugged,"They eat too much" he said.
"No kidding"
When Bruce set the plate of deer meat in front of me my mouth watered from the scent.
"This smells delicious" I commented before I took a bite.
"Get that every time" Bruce replied. After I finished I placed the plate in the sink. I was the last one done, all the others stuffed their faces with the meat.
"You guys sure you've had enough for does Bruce need to slave over the flame again and cook more?" I asked.
