I awoke from a deep sleep. "Where am I?" I wondered. All I saw was white. Then I realized that I couldn't move my arms. I looked down to see what was holding my arms together and found that I was in a strait jacket. I wondered aloud, "What happened to me?" Then I screamed. I don't know why. The scream basically came out of nowhere. I couldn't keep it in. It was as if some unknown thing forced me to scream.
A group of men walked into the room.
One of them said to me, "Well good morning to you 'Crazy Girl'. Hope you had a nice long rest, because today the police will be interrogating you, with the help of our guards to make sure you don't try to escape."
"Where am I? And why did you just call me 'Crazy Girl'?" I replied.
Then, he said, "Well, 'Crazy Girl', you're in a psychiatric ward. And the reason I keep calling you that is because everybody here does."
"I still don't see why you're calling me 'Crazy Girl'. My name is Anna, and I am not crazy."
He laughed, and then replied, "That's what they all say."
"So, why are you calling me 'Crazy Girl'?"
"You really don't know what happened, do you?"
"No," I answered.
"Well, if I show you some pictures of your family-"
Family. Who knew the word "family" could do so much to my mind. Somehow, it made memories of my whole life, every single moment and detail of it, flood into my mind. The main thing I remembered was being in the car crash with my parents. I remembered the screeching of the tires and being terrified as my parents weren't moving. I remembered everything that had happened. Every horrifying detail.
When I zoned back in to reality, I realized that the men had left my room. Then I went to sleep.
