I’ve been in Florida for a week to visit family for the holidays and I’ve gotten sick of the socializing with family that I barely knew to be honest. I’m just happy I’m leaving for home tomorrow. My name’s Mia. I’m just you’re normal 16-year-old internet addict. I watch YouTubers on my laptop to escape the world and get my home life off my mind. I don’t really have that many friends at home but I have enough internet to go around.
I was trying to isolate myself from my family by texting my friends who were doing the exact same.
Hope: I hate socializing.
Me: Me too; you know what I just realized? The one time I’m in Florida, you’re not.
Hope Spencer is one of my closest internet friends who lives in sunny Florida. She’s 15-years-old and is obsessed with YouTubers and One Direction, just as I am.
Hope: Gah, I know. I want to meet you soo badly.
Me: Family’s calling me. I think it’s game time. *rolls eyes* I guess I’ll talk to you later.
“I’m coming!” I yelled back to my family. I walked into the living room where Pictionary was set up; one of the only games I could tolerate. I didn’t really pay attention to much of the game because I was too busy looking at Twitter. The game was finally over so I headed back to the room I was staying in with my little sister, Ami.
I opened my laptop and typed in tumblr.com, one of my other obsessions. The rest of the evening went by pretty quickly after dinner. I was really tired after the day full of “fun” and couldn’t wait to finally go to sleep. As soon as my head hit the pillow, I was out. Next thing I know, my dad is waking me up at five o’clock in the morning for our flight back home. I got up, showered, and finished getting ready before anyone saw my face. I walked into the kitchen dreading who all was going to be in there. I saw my cousins, my aunt, my parents, and Ami. I took a seat between my mom and Ami to eat breakfast. After we were finished we said our goodbyes and got our rental car packed with our many suitcases. I sat in the back seat and breathed a sigh of relief.
Not much longer, we were at the Miami airport. I saw I had a text from my grandma at home. “Hey there. I just wanted to let you know that it started to snow here just 5 minutes ago. Hope you have a good trip back & be careful! Love you!” I told the rest of the family. I just hope we weren’t going to get stuck at DFW because of the snow.
