Pinky Promise?

Chapter Seven

Dinah's POV
"So, I have news" the officer said as she dropped a folder on the table.
"So about a week ago, we found a body in an ally that was later identified as Paige Lofton. DNA shows that she was her mother, and because of the information she gave us, there's no telling where the father is."
"What can we do about this? I mean we can't just abandon her!" I say looking up at the police officer.
"Well, once we inform CPS about this, they're gonna take her to an adoption center"
"No, you can't do that. She's already been through enough" I say on the verge of tears.
"I'm sorry but there is no other option"
I look down in defeat, but then I got an idea. "What if I adopt her!" I said looking at the officer with hopeful eyes.
"Dinah are you sure that's what you want?" Ally says jumping in.
"I'm positive. I would rather her stay with me than to be put in an adoption center. So, what do you guys think?" I say while looking at my girls for their support.
"I mean, she has grown to like you the most, and she seems to trust you" Normani said, and I nodded in response. Then, I looked back at the officer.
"I mean, if that's what you want, we can get that set up right away, Ms. Hansen. I'll call CPS now." She picked up the folder and walking out of the room.
"Sweetie?" I asked looking down at the small child in my lap that was playing with my fingers. She hummed in response.
"Do you know what it means to be adopted?" She shook her head.
"Well, when your mommy and daddy can't take care of you, nice people take you home with them so they can take care of you instead. It's like a second mommy or daddy." I looked over to the girls, and Lauren looked at me and nodded showing her approval.
"Well, I want to adopt you, baby. I wanna take care of you. Is that alright with you?" I looked down at her.
"You be my new mommy?" She asked confused.
"I mean yeah, you could say that" I nodded and smiled at her.
"Pinky pwomise now hurt me?"
"Yes baby I would never hurt you" We linked our fingers,and I kissed her forehead. About 30 minutes later, the officer came back with another woman in a pant suit,then, the sat at the table.
"So Dinah, if you are completely sure about this, I have someone from CPS with her files and the adoption papers"
"I'm sure. I'm more than ready for this."
"Okay, so here's the adoption papers,and there's an 'x' by everything you need to sign."
"Okay," I say as I grab the pen and started signing the papers. Once I finished, I gave the woman back the papers.
"Here's some information you might want to know," she said sliding a folder across the table.
"You guys are free to go. I hope this turns out for the best" The officer says as we head out.
When we reach the van, I open the the folder, which revealed her name,which I now know is Olivia Paige and now Hansen,birthday,and addition information about her parents. I look over to see Olivia sitting in Lauren's lap and playing with her fingers. This makes me smile that she is started to open up to the girls. Hopefully, I didn't make the wrong decision.
