Little did Tyler know, this "secret" would add up to the best day of his life. Tyler and Josh had know each other for nearly a year now, dating for a month or so less than that. Josh had a life changing idea, and Tyler's mom was totally in on it.
To start off the night, Josh planned to surprise Tyler by showing up at his house, of course with Taco Bell, for that'd practically where they met. As time proceeded, Josh would pretend he left something in his car, and go to "receive it". While Josh was outside, he would text a ton of Tyler and Josh's friends, including their family, to sneak into Tyler's yard. When Josh returned indoors, he would text the group again, instructing them it was time for the surprise.
If you've ever seen the film, The Hobbit, it'd be easier to imagine this event if you thought back to when the dwarves showed up at Bilbo's house do to the sign Gandolf had left on his door. First a couple dwarves show up, following with more, and more, and so on. At the end of the evening Bilbo was left with a ton of house guests, that he wasn't even expecting. Josh's birthday surprise for Tyler would be similar to that, but Tyler was expected to enjoy it more than Mr.Baggins did.
After Josh returned to his waiting spouse, within minutes they heard a knock at the door. Josh got up to answer it, Tyler peering over his shoulder.
"Hi guys! Happy birthday Tyler!" Brendon greeted, hugging the two. It showed on Tyler's face that he was confused, but Josh flashed a comforting smile. The three were laughing at some meme on Josh's phone, before there was another knock. Tyler raised his eyebrow to which Josh replied with a shrug.
As Josh opened the door, they were greeted with three more familiar faces, Pete, Ryan, and Dallon. They all wish Tyler a great birthday, and joined the others on the living room floor.
Not too long after another knock sounded, that being Melanie and Ashley. Another knock, Jay, Zac, and Madison. The last knock consisted of Josh's mother and Tyler's parents. In total there was about 15 to 20 people that showed up. Tyler was beyond confused, but accepted the somewhat of a party.
"What's all this?" Tyler nudged Josh.
"Happy birthday, Tyler." Josh winked, causing the two to erupt in a fit of giggles.
"Alright, alright. Settle down kiddos." Tyler's mother had called out. "Today we are celebrating Tyler's 20th birthday. He may be an adult in your eyes, but always a baby in mine. I wish the best to this lovely boy." His mother finished, everyone clapping and cheering for Tyler. The attention brought a blush to Tyler's cheeks, and Josh never found anything more adorable.
The night went on, and around 9 Josh stood outside composing himself for a moment. He was beyond nervous, and his mother stood beside him, rubbing comforting circles in his back.
Deciding life had to go on no matter what choice Tyler would make, Josh found himself standing in the middle of the living room.
"Excuse me everybody?" Josh asked, everyone's smiling faces turning towards him.
"To start off, I'm so glad I found that stupid writing on that mirror at Taco Bell. Tyler, my life has been wonderful since the day I decided to message you. Although you acted like you disliked me, I persisted with annoying you, and look where we are now. I know we're both young, and have got a lot to think through before we make any decisions, but I've done a lot of thinking through these 8 months we've been together. I've never felt the connection that we share with anyone else I've ever met. You make me the happiest man alive, and I couldn't imagine being with anyone other than the Tyler Joseph. So would you do the honor of letting my dreams come true, and taking this engagement ring as a symbol of the life that we can start together?"
Tyler was in tears by now, and Josh near it too. In fact, most everyone's eyes held that glint of water in them. The room was silent, Josh sitting on one knee in front of Tyler, holding the famous box open.
"Yes, yes. I love you so much." Tyler whispered, wrapping his arms so tight around Josh that it seemed that was the last time he would see the boy. Tyler and Josh's moms were in hysterics, hugging each other. Everyone was happy, of course those tears being those of happiness.
As if the night wasn't good enough already, the room was filled with feelings of glee and love. They had gone from wishing Tyler a happy birthday, to wishing him a happy marriage with the love of his life, Josh. Most would say this story is too good to be true, but clearly you aren't reading fanfiction for the direct truth.
