"What does Thomas and Percy have which a big engine like me doesn't have?" said Gordon angerly.
"It sounds like Thomas and Percy are becoming superstars," said James. "First York, then some heritage railways on the Mainland. Now, they're visiting America. What ever next?"
"Oh will you stop your boiling- aching you two," said Henry who had just got done pulling the Flying Kipper. "You're all jealous, Thomas and Percy are better than any of either of you two."
"You're right Henry," said Duck. "Thomas and Percy maybe little engines. But they'll make this Railway famous."
Gordon and James didn't even talk to Thomas and Percy all morning and afternoon. But however, Thomas and Percy were excited about visiting America for the Summer and Fall.
"So Thomas and Percy are you excited about your trip to America?" asked Mr. Conductor.
"Yes,"said Thomas. "But why us?"
"Why what?"
"That the citizens of America want to see us,"said Percy. "But why us?"
"Because you were requested by the people of America to visit," said a familiar voice.
It was Sir Topham Hatt. He was visiting Ffarquhar station on important business.
"Your visit will last from June to November. And you'll return to help with the winter rush."
"But what about my Branch Line?" asked Thomas.
"Stanley and Diesel will do your work while you're away. I told Diesel to be on his best behavior with Annie and Clarabel."
Thomas was relieved that Diesel was going to be on best behavior while on his branch line. Later that day, Thomas and Percy asked Mr. Conductor of what they would expect on America.
"Will engines like Flying Scotsman or City of Truro be America?" asked Thomas and Percy in unison.
Mr. Conductor sighed.
"I'm afraid Engines from the Mainland won't be in America Thomas and Percy. But there will be steam engines that we will see and meet in America."
That made Thomas and Percy feel better.
2 weeks went by, and by that time April had passed and the end of May was coming soon. Thomas and Percy were going more and more excited about their trip to America.
"Is the day almost close?" they would ask Mr. C.
Mr. Conductor chuckled.
"Almost here," he would say. "Almost here"
As weeks went by, the day was almost here. On the second Tuesday of June, Thomas and Percy were called down to the Steamworks to get their knuckle couplers and cow catchers on before they went to America.
The next day was the big day. There would be a celebration at Brendam Docks to wish them good luck. Even Gordon and James were wishing him good luck in America. And soon the ship had departed the docks to Wilmington, Delaware in America.
It took a week to get to America. But finally, after traveling over the challenges of the Atlantic, Thomas, Percy, and Mr. Conductor came into the Delaware Bay and soon arrived in Wilmington.
