Dorms

The year was almost over, and I was more than ready to start my first year in Oakwood University. This was it. No more saving money in my little piggy bank for college, no more having to work 6 hours a day for a minimal paying job, and more importantly I'm ready to get out of this town.

I know how unprofessional of me to start school in December but I refused to go to that little community college that my mother informed me was the only hope for my future education, but I proved her wrong. I can still remember her bright smile that crossed through her face, but I didn't do it for her I did it for me.

"Aria come downstairs your gonna be late!" I ignore my mothers shouting as I begin to change.

I brush my long dark waves and decide whether or not I should keep my hair up to look professional, or keep it down to look more college like. I decide to keep my hair down. Before I get out I tie my brown oxfords, adjust my cardigan and have one more glance at my small yet comforting bedroom.

"Finally I almost thought you weren't gonna go". I chuckle at my mothers statement I can't wait to get out of this place and also away from her.

"Do you want me to drive you to the dorms?"

"No dads driving me" I say not making eye contact with my mother as I take a bite out of my sweet juicy apple. I let the taste devour me, praying that my dad will come soon.

"Oh" is all she says. As I quickly look at my mother hurt runs all over her face but I could care less, what she did to this family was...

"I just can't believe my baby is growing up, Aria I am so proud of you". My mother says for the 20th time since I she found the envelope that says I got in.

"Yeah thanks" I say while a car pulls up in the parking lot.

"Oh that's dad I better get going bye" I say while opening the door.

"I love you" she whispers to me. I shut my eyes and close the door as my dad steps out of the car. "Get over here!" I laugh as I jump in my dads arms as he tells me how much he'll miss me.

"Dad you can let go now" I laugh in his comforting chest.

"Alright, alright." He says while we both step in his car.

I look out the car window as I see my mother now sitting in our front yard, she must've been watching all this, wishing it was her that I was hugging and laughing with. I wipe the tear that escapes my eye as I try to forget about this horrid town and focus on my bright future that is ahead of me.

"Wow" is all I can say when we arrive at the dorms. I walk past all the doors looking for the room 419.

"Here it is 419". "Are you sure you don't wanna maybe stay at the house for a little while?".

"Dad I'm fine really".

"I was talking about me" we both laugh at his comment as the door swings open.

A girl with deep blonde hair, much too makeup but a greeting face let's us in.

"Hi I'm Kate you must be my new roommate!" She says pulling me into the tightest hug. She observes me like I'm a science expierment. Am I missing something?

"I'm Aria". I say while Kate is still staring at me.

"Well thank god your decent looking! My old roommate didn't know the difference between good looks and bad!" she says cackling at her own statement.

I laugh not because of what Kate said but my Fathers face of worry is priceless and I almost feel bad for laughing.

I look around the room posters everywhere of naked boys and girls scatter around the room and in not sure how much my Dad can take all at once.

"I'll be fine" I whisper to my Father who's face is still making me giggle.

"Oh I know you will, it's her that I'm worried about" he whispers as Kate dissapears into the closet.

"Well I better get going I love you so much"

As me and my father finish our goodbyes and he leaves I'm wondering if Kate is still in the closet.

"Kate"? I slowly walk into the closet as I witness her and a boy are on the floor making out.

What have I gotton myself into.
