Picture of Jordan ---->

Beads of perspiration rolled down my flushed cheeks, onto my neck and sacrificed themselves in the cotton of my blouse. The heat which seemed to intensify by the second had me yearning for a respite from the unendurable temperatures. Attempting my utmost best to ignore my discomfort, I scanned the nearby vicinity for the person I sought. I looked through the throngs of people who bustled down the street and eventually a familiar silhouette caught my eye.

"Jordan!' I hollered at the top of my lungs while running to fall into step with my best friend.

As soon as, I reached him, he pulled me by my wrists and wrapped me in a tight embrace. I breathed in his distinctive smell of sea air which I had grown so accustomed to over the years. His dirty blond hair was messy as usual but it looked recently cut and his blue eyes were sparking like the Caribbean Sea. He was tall at six foot one inch and had a well-defined eight pack from his arduous training and combat. We hastily looked around to see if anyone had paid any keen interest in us and once we were satisfied we were unseen we kept our heads down and walked towards our destination.

We navigated our way through the people and turned into a dark alley way. It appeared long and endless but we both knew what was at the end. We tried not to inhale the musky air as we raced down.

In about ten minutes, we reached our sanctuary. The one glorious place that held our greatest memories and joyous times, whilst offering us safety and protection. To anyone else the structure must have been little more than a glorified shed. The square windows were mullioned and edged thickly in white. The exterior of the old house was covered by large red tiles that had been ripped away in places to expose the wooden skeleton beneath. The roof sagged inwardly and the cedar shingles stuck up in places like uneven teeth.

However, contrasting immensely to the rest of the house, was a gigantic, grand mahogany door that was in prestige condition. It had ornate carvings and workings that glimmered in the sunlight and a large golden door knob. Strangely, instead of a keyhole there was just a flat plate of gold.

I moved towards the door but Jordan gently grabbed my hand.

"No let me," he instructed.

Before I could argue, Jordan pulled a dagger from where it was neatly and discreetly sheathed beneath his shirt and made a small cut in the pad of his thumb. He placed his thumb on the plate of gold and made a fingerprint. As many times as I had seen this it never ceased to peak my interest. The bloody print seemed to be absored through the solid gold and the gigantic door swung open.

Eagerly, we both rushed inside. Beyond the large wooden door was a grand foyer with a magnificent spiral staircase as the focal point of the room. A huge fireplace also drew attention. The air was cool and provided relief from the blaze of the outside.

BANG! The large door slammed shut and a gust of air sent a chill down my spine. A smile crept onto my face as it always did when i was here. Grabbing Jordan's hand, I began to pull him up the stairs to my quarters. It appeared as if no one was here but us.

The first door at the top of the stairs was mine. This was the place I called my bedroom. I grew up here. It was orderly tidy if that makes sense. The walls were painted a mellow green and the drapes and bedding were a rich purple which complimented each other. Large wood furniture and a canopy bed adorned the room.

As we walked in my chamber, I threw myself on my bed face first. I felt Jordan's weight on the bed next to me.

"Cosa c'è di sbagliato, bella ?'' asked Jordan sweetly in Italian.

I honestly didn't have a clue what he said but I loved to here him talk in Italian. I rolled on my back and saw him sitting on the bed against the headboard. He grinned at me and I couldn't help but smile back. I scooted up and lied down throwing my head in Jordan's lap.

"So what did you say the only word i caught was bella," I questioned Jordan with a warm smile. He always called me bella since he became fluent in Italian three years ago. It means beautiful.

"I asked what was wrong."

Watching him with sad eyes I muttered, "War."

Getting up from the bed I crossed the room to face the mirror. My brown hair which was cut in long layers was tied in a messy bun and my grey blue eyes seemed to have too much worry for an eighteen year old like myself. I stood at five foot eight and was slim and athleticly built from my industrious training. I looked nothing like the playful Alexis I had been years ago. I could discern Jordan gazing at me with concern.

Tonight we had to report for an emergency meeting to discuss battle strategy. The leaders of each nation would all be present. I turned once again to face Jordan when the door burst open. Immediately, Jordan whipped out his dagger and I fisted my hands but there was no threat.

In walked a familiar dirty blonde with blue eyes just like her brother. "Kendall!" I shouted and darted up to tackle her in a huge hug.

Jordan's older sibling by three years had been an older sister to figure to me growing up. Kendall, now 22, had been busy lately and was away a lot so I hardly got to see her.

"Hey don't kill me, Aly!" she laughed while embracing me. She kicked the door shut with her foot and playfully ruffled my hair.

Kendall hugged Jordan and turned to us with grave expressions.

"Jordy, Aly, we need to give Simon the talk. We need to train him"

Instantly, our faces paled and dread began to course through my veins. Simon was a ten year old boy who we had been asked to observe. He lived in a local orphanage after his parents were allegedly murdered in a hold up. The talk and training usually begins at 12 and is not an easy thing to go through. However when you have the lifestyle such as us. It is necessary but it also means accepting most of your prior life was a lie.
