TYLER
I twisted the black studded piercing in my lip, watching the lady up front of the class speak about the French Revolution and about King Louis the 16th.
I knew Louis. A self-proclaimed, arrogant prick. Just like his wife, who ate so much, she could of easily crushed him during the night. He deserved that.
I knew every detail she was saying, even in more vivid detail than she could comprehend, but I didn't say anything - I just continued to twist my black, round piercing in my lip.
I looked out the window, watching the clouds pass through the sky.
Are they close? Will they find me?
My attention was brought back to the teacher after she started to yell at a student before continuing. I could hear the blood pulse through her veins, and I cocked my head to the side, imaging her blood flowing through my lips and warming my insides.
The sound of the loud, clanging bell snapped me out of my fantasies, and I rose from my chair as everyone headed to leave. I slid my books into my bag, before slipping it onto one shoulder and walking out.
The High school was situated in northern Canada, and it was summer so it was still extremely cold but there wasn't any snow. For a while I had been wanting to revisit Canada, but I had been caught up in Mexico after I somehow got involved with a drug heist.
Somehow.
I travelled. A lot. I've been everywhere almost. I can speak over twenty tongues, and write in them too. I guess having three hundred years to spare had been a great help.
I headed to my locker, spinning the dial until I unlocked the door, shoving my bag inside before I closed it.
Lunch time.
Blood-bags all milled and socialised as they headed towards the cafeteria. Their voices mixed and merged as they all spoke, echoing in the spacious halls. But I wasn't at all bothered by the noise. I could easily just block it out.
I didn't follow the kids into the cafeteria. I knew that at this time, I had to be behind the school. That's where my lunch was.
The school itself was very large, but modern, with ceilings four times as tall as me. The building sat upon a large hill which dropped off down into a ravine. Though it was all fenced off. But I could always smell the water from within the halls, and the icy wind from being up high. And I couldn't help but feel like Rudeus High was on my list of favourites.
Why did I even bother with High School?
I was bored out of my skull, and blending in was one of reasons why I've managed to survive this long. I've been having to look over my shoulder for over three hundred years, and I wish to feel a little more at ease at times. That's why High school is one of the best places to be - the bastards goons would never attack me here. So I had some time to just ease up, to relax and feed off unsuspecting fleshies.
I finally made it through the halls without much delay, everyone giving me a wide berth. It wasn't that they knew what I was, they just didn't seem to like me. Not that I cared. At first, people had been all over me, flirting, talking, but my glares had quickly made them scurry off. I wasn't here to socialise - I was here to feed and to relax.
I turned so I headed outside, through the lavish court yard, heading behind the school. Thick forest sat at this end, tall and dark and dense. I slipped inside, feeling the cool, soft nature wrap itself around me. I blended into its foliage easily, and I just stood there, waiting.
