A beautiful ray of sun shined from above, making the hole to the underground seem like a spotlight. It's warmth wrapping itself around anything, comforting the broken souls. The patch of flowers that was once there has grown in numbers. They aligned the floor and scattered on the underground walls. It seemed like a place out of a fairytale. Though this tale did not have a happily ever after. Sans, care taker of this garden, quietly entered the page of the story. Not even the sun's easing glow could comfort this soul, for it had been scattered to far reaches of loss. He maneuvered his way to the center, careful to not step on any of the golden beauties. There, he sit in front of a stone with a heart engraved in the middle. A crown of flowers laid atop it like a halo.
Sans put his hand on the top of the grave. "Heh.. Flower you today, sweetheart?"
He waited, as if expecting a response.
"I see, not really talking lately, huh?" The grief and heart break was painted on his face, dried tear streaks were seen faintly. He seemed tired, but restless.
Sans forced a smile, hiding his woe. "You never speak, barley a word. All you do is echo."
He moved his arm down to one of the buttercups rooted next to him and played with it.
"You should do more than that, I'd love to hear your voice again." He picked the flower from the ground and twirled it in between his fingers.
"Cause..heheh, it's been quiet, ya know? I need to you to fill this silence." Sans choked out. "It's not... really the same.. without noise, without your noise..."
He was holding back the stream, trying not to rain down here, on this patch of broken memories. He was like a bottle shaken and wracked with despair, ready to burst with no warning.
Sans stopped twirling the flower.
"Without your laughter,
without your cries,
without your whispers,
without your voice...Sans crushed the flower with his fist as he tried to grip on to his emotions. He clenched harder and harder trying to control his being.
He loosened his grip on the flower, its fragile petals now torn and in pieces. Hot red tears flowed down his plump cheek bones and kissed the other flowers below. Sans gritted his teeth and hunched over to the stone.
"Without you..."
His whimpers and cries echoed through the ruins behind him, though no one was there to hear them. Sans sat there weeping for what seemed like forever over the loss of they're angel.
The underground's angel.
His angel.
He sat up right again, tears still falling down and staining the yellow, red. Sans reached for his pocket.
He pulled out something that would've been wrapped up in a box, being patient as it waited in room. It's metal caught the reflection of the sun and gave a blinding light as Sans took it by the wooden handle. He aimed the point at himself and closed his eyes, tears still managing to escape.
"If I had the courage.. If I had the strength to do this... Could I see you again? Just once to see your face again,
clean of your deaths?"Sans brought the knife closer.
"Would I even matter now? What would be my purpose to live on when you aren't next to me so I could hold your hand?"
Again, he waited for a response. But no one spoke.
He could die right there and be scattered across the flowers, staining them a permanent red. He brought the knife back and clenched for death, and brought it in again.
...........
A gust of smooth wind blew in from the sky, picking up loose flowers into the air. They danced around in the light as they floated up and down with the breeze.
Sans dropped the knife in mere seconds of the strike, and looked up to witness the flying garden. He stared in awe as more big tears rushed out, then buried his face into his hands and wept. The wails of his soon ceased, just as the flowers began to land again. He looked up at the heavens, then down to the grave he sat before and gave a weak but truthful smile.
"Heh.. heheh.." Sans wiped away one side of his face, streaks still noticeable.
"Guess you were here after all, sweetheart."
