"One's family split into two. One's mother and father both from Gryffindor while his family were pureblood Slytherins. Indeed, but where shall we put you?" the hat wondered, "although very shy, you are full of knowledge and possess a keen mind for learning. However, you have a thirst to prove yourself. To prove who you really are on the inside. You strive for it. So in the end, it better be........ GRYFFINDOR!" sudden elation exploded within me. I was in Gryffindor! With all my friends. I couldn't be any happier. I jumped up from my seat and pretty much ran to the new table. I looked down at my robes and noticed they had changed to red and gold. My new house colours. I took my seat next to Ron while Harry and Hermione both sat on the other side. We all listen in on the rest of the sorting before we heard McGonagall tapping against her glass gaining our attention,
"Your attention, please," she called,
"Let the feast... begin" Dumbledore announced which suddenly caused plates and plates of food to appear in front of us,
"Wow!" Harry and I hushed before we both dived in. I first grabbed two chicken legs and a big helping of mashed potato before scoffing it down. Bloody hell, this was delicious! Finishing that, I then took a helping of the lamb chops and some corn and the cob. I probably shouldn't be eating all this food, but I just couldn't help myself! Mid-way through our feast, Harry turned to the boy next to him, who introduced himself as Percy, Ron's older brother and a prefect for Gryffindor,
"Say, Percy, who's that teacher talking to Professor Quirrell?" Harry asked, to which made me turn around and look at two men talking to one another.
"Oh, that's Professor Snape, head of Slytherin house," Percy explained,
"What's he teach?" Harry pondered,
"Potions. But everyone knows it's the Dark Arts he fancies. He's been after Quirrell's job for years," Percy divulged which made Harry and I to slowing nod our heads. After easting the final mouthful of lamb, I decided to have one last chicken leg only to be greeted with a head appearing out of the plate which made me drop my chicken and release a small shriek,
"Ahhh!" Ron exclaimed, joining in my shock,
"Hello! How are you? Welcome to Gryffindor!" he cheered while other ghosts appeared all throughout the hall. They came out of the walls and flew up from the ground which amazed us all,
"Hello, Sir Nicholas. Have a nice summer?" Percy asked,
"Dismal. Once again, my request to join the Headless Hunt has been denied," he sighed before starting to float away only to stop after Ron called out to him,
"I know you! You're Nearly Headless Nick!" Ron exclaimed looking up at the man,
"I prefer Sir Nicholas if you don't mind," he stated but Hermione just looked up in confusion,
"Nearly Headless? How can someone be Nearly Headless," she puzzled,
"Like this," and with that, Nick pulled his head to the side which revealed the inside of his neck. This made all four of us drop our food as if made us feel very sick,
"Well, I think the Headless Hunt is stupid. You would be a very valuable member as you would be the only one who could actually see what they are hunting. Their meetings must be disastrous," I chuckled which made Nick chuckle,
"Very well said. What's your name, young lady," Nick asked,
"Odessa Black," I smiled while Nick just look perplexed at me,
"Godric's beard! You're Sirius Black's girl?" the ghost muttered before turning around and floating away, leaving me rather dumbfounded. Not long after the incident with Sir Nick, the feast ended and all first years were escorted from the Hall with our house Prefects. Ours being Percy,
