After the training session we had dinner that Riley cooked. Riley always cooked, that was just how it was. I tried cooking once and lets just say thank God nobody got food poisoning.
"Why do you always cook when mom and dad aren't home?" asked Maddie.
"Because we need food to survive and our lovely sister cant cook for the life of her." Riley said. I gave him the death stare and replied sweetly " I can cook."
"Really, enlighten us. What?" asked Riley.
"Well I can make awesome sandwiches and stuff." I replied. They laughed. I stared at them.

When Maddie was in bed safe and sound, I went and sat down across from Riley and said "We need to talk."
"I know." he replied.
"Not bout me and Christian but about Maddie."
"I thought you would wanna know what I found out bout the case." he remarked dryly.
"Oh believe me I do, just not know. Maddie comes first."
"So what do we do?"
"You tell me, you re the oldest."
Just as he was about to open his mouth the front door opened. We both shot up and stood in our fighting stance. My tall and beautiful mom came in and started laughing at our stance.
"You can never be too careful mom." Riley said sitting back down on the sofa.
"I thought you were out of the country!" I said.
"Oh so you were the guardian?" mom asked surprised.
"Unfortunately." Riley and I said at the same time. We filled her in on the Maddie news and all mom did was sigh disappointedly.
"Oh and mom Savannah taught Maddie how to punch someone perfectly." Riley said.
"RILEY!" I said at the same time mom said "SAVANNAH!"
"What? I thought you liked hearing your awesome name." Riley replied innocently.
"Watch your back Riley. Watch your back." I said in a dangerous tone with narrowed eyes. He showed me his tongue.
"Savannah we need to talk." mom said.
"I'm really sleepy. I think I'll pass. Night momma."
"Savannah you are a trained spy. You've done your job without sleep and I think this won't take long." she had that authoritative voice she used to bark orders. I sighed and said "Fine. If you must." Riley smirked.

Sitting in moms office isn't really nice. In fact its worse than an interrogation room....Worse than a prison. Ok well maybe not. It was all gray and drab. You wouldn't think it was part of the well loved, colorful house.
"Savannah I know you havent been having a good day or week. But you can't go around teaching people how to punch! Let alone little kids." mom said, looking tired.
"I didn't teach just anyone. I taught my sister!" I retorted.
"Savannah she is ten!"
"And? I believe everyone should know basic defense." Like dad had taught me to.
"Savannah-"
"No mom. Listen. I miss him. And I hate Cortez! He ruins my life. He takes you away from us and to top it all off he pretends to care about us!"
"He is your father and you will not speak like that about him."
I smiled, disbelievingly and quietly said "He isn't dad."
"Agent Carter you will speak to me like you were speaking to your superiors in this matter."
"I'm sorry that I'm not the perfect daughter you wanted me to be." I said and walked out, slamming the door for effect. "I'm going out!" I yelled to no one in particular.
