"Eyes opened to splattered blood. Cold tile..." Groaning, I trudged across the room to my desk and answered the phone, "Hello?"

"Rhea? Where are you? School starts in ten minutes!" Mo (aka. Mohini) replied. She sounded out of breath for some reason, guess she was nervous or something. Oh well.

"8:20! Crap!" I yelled. "Talk to you later, Mo! I'm on my way!" After bumping blindly into my bed, I forced my arms into my winter jacket and grabbed my backpack. As I hurried downstairs, I tripped on the last step. Flailing my arms wildly, I tried to balance myself on the wooden railing, but it was useless."Grrrr. That hurt."

"Rhea? Are you okay?" My dad asked, glancing up from his newspaper and cup of coffee.

"Yeah, I'm fine dad, love you!" I sprung up from the stairs and hissed in pain as my toe made contact with the hardwood floor. After snagging a granola bar, I rushed to the door and abruptly tripped again. On my backpack.

"Arrgh!" I grimaced in frustration, clutching my throbbing toe. My butt also hurt! After a moment, I opened one eye and glanced at the time. 8:30. "Gah!" School had already started. I jolted up, grabbed my backpack, rushed out the door, and began my walk to school. I guess you could say that I'm pretty clumsy. Apparently, I take after my mom.

I'm Rhea Papadakis. Yeah, I can hear you snickering. It's part Greek, part Indian. Oh, that girl, Mo? She's my best friend. We've always been there for each other, through thick and thin, although we're pretty much complete opposites. You'll see, later.

Wrapping my coat more tightly around me, I approached the large double doors, pushed open the doors of the school and checked my watch. The cold feeling of dread sank into me. It was 8:52. I was fifteen minutes late. Sucking in a deep breath, I headed over to the office.

"Hello, is there somewhere I could get a pass to class?" I asked at the desk. The blonde secretary, who was filing her nails, looked me up and down in disgust. I discreetly pulled my coat tighter around me, feeling her piercing gaze.

"No. You'll need to sign in and get a detention slip." She replied in a nasally voice.

"But it's just fifteen minutes, could I please have a-"

"Hey lady, I need a pass." A smooth voice interrupted.

"S...Su...Sure sweetie! Anything else I could get for you?" She immediately simpered in a sugary sweet voice, leaning forward.

My jaw fell down in shock and I spun around only to bump my face into his hard chest, prompting me to gasp and fall backwards in surprise.

"Hahahahaha!"

Involuntarily, my eyes trailed up his long legs, over his defined torso, his muscular chest, and into a pair of striking blue eyes. I gazed into them, unaware of my surroundings.

"You done checking me out sweetheart?" He smirked down at me, one corner of his lips quirked up in amusement. Well, that shocked me out of my ogling pretty fast. I stood up so fast, it caused me to stumble. "You! How dare you come in here and interrupt me like that? And don't call me sweetheart! You don't even know me!" I hated that name. It brought back too many memories. "Also, have you ever heard of courtesy?"

Spinning around wildly, my hair flipped into his face. I finished my rant and faced the secretary. The pass was in her hand, clutched by her frozen fingers. "I believe that is mine." I snatched the pass out of her hand and stormed out into the hallway. I heard the boy chuckling behind me, which infuriated me even more. I guess I was being a bit mean and over dramatic, but this was not shaping up to be a great day.

Hitching up my backpack, I raced over to my first period class- AP Calculus- my least favorite. Maybe I'm what you would call a nerd, maybe I'm not. When I burst into the room, everybody's head snapped over to me in shock. Soon, there were some snickers. Well, I couldn't blame them, I probably looked like a mess.

Mr. McLean shook his her at me. "Do you have a pass, Rhea?"

"Yes!" I said breathlessly. I fumbled through my pockets, then slumped my shoulders when I couldn't find it. Shoot, must've dropped it while running. "No." More snickers echoed through the room.

"I'm afraid I'll have to give you detention for being late to class, Miss. Papadakis."

"But I swear I had it! I must've dropped it while I was running to class! Please don't give me detention!"

"You were running in the hallways? That's against the rules! Another detention for you!" He said in disappointment. What is this? Elementary school?

"B...B..But sir! You can't do that! I-"

The sound of a door creaking open reached my ears. I glanced behind me, and who did I see? The office guy. The boy smirked at me and gave a pass to the teacher. My pass! I bit my lip to refrain from screaming out.

"Hello, is this AP Calculus? I'm new here. Logan Black, sir," he stated respectfully. Mr. McLean nodded and marked down and name in his book.

"Asshole" I muttered.

"Excuse me?" Mr. McLean raised his eyebrows. "Did you just insult a teacher? Another detention for you, young lady."

"What! I wasn't-" I tried to stutter out, but no sound came out. Laughter began to fill the room. I regained my voice. "That was my pass! And I didn't call you that!" My cheeks were burning in embarrassment.

"Do you want a week's worth of detention? I suggest you shut up and sit down!" His voice was a little higher. Admitting defeat, I slunk over to my desk and slouched down next to Mo, who was trying to hold down her laughter. I glared at her, which immediately shut her up. That boy! It was his fault!

Well! This is my first attempt at a story, so please don't laugh! What do you think of Rhea? Should I tone down her personality, or do you like her? I'm sorry if this chapter is a bit crappy, but it's my first! I welcome any advice on my work, so please PM me! Thanks

Vote and Comment please! It would mean so much to me!

P.S. Updates probably shouldn't be too slow.
