All the nations were splitting up, walking out the door in groups. What wasn't normal was the duo of America and Russia chatting to each other like friends, as they walked out.
The two were meeting up for some chess. They had just restarted their strategy games tournament again, with Russia winning by one point. And every time they restarted their tournament, they started with chess.
They had started playing when Russia became an Allied power, and continued even through the Cold War. This arrangement no one knew about except for Canada when he walked in on them playing one time. The two of them had poker faces which Canada had returned. "I'm making sandwiches, what do you want on yours?" Matthew finally said.
"I have some cooked beef in the fridge, but if you don't want to use that, you can use the roast beef." Alfred answered.
"I'd prefer roast beef." Ivan replied smoothly.
"Alright, I'll leave them on the counter for you." Matthew said. "Good luck," Matthew mouthed inconspicuously to Alfred.
"Shall we continue?" Russia asked, glancing at the board after looking at his opponent.
"Let's." America replied smoothly.
No idea if I'll continue this story, this is just a random thought I had after seeing the headcanon of America being good at strategy games.
