I woke up with an excited feeling. Maybe nervous. Nervcited? Either way I knew I'd get to spend the whole day with Fred. We hadn't previously spent much time together so I wasn't sure if we'd get along the greatest. I got dressed, did my hair (paying a little more attention to it than I normally would), and went down to the Great Hall. Avery was already waiting for me there.
She was eating some toast and strawberry marmalade. She also had a cup of coffee with her that she sipped while reading from her Transfiguration textbook. She only looked up when I had coughed to get her attention. She looked up startled from the sudden noise.
"Oh, sorry. We have a test Monday so-"
"It's the weekend! Enjoy Hogsmeade today, study tomorrow," I told her. She sadly closed her book.
"Fine," she said and scrunched her nose disappointedly.

The students who were third years and up gathered outside in the fall air. It wasn't too cold yet. It was still about 60 something degrees outside and the whomping willow still had it's leaves. It usually doesn't lose them until December for some reason. I've silently studied that tree for years. Everyone else says it's ugly and mean, but I think it's beautiful. And really cool.
We waited for McGonagall to lead the way, but she had to take attendance first and see that everyone had  permission to go. While she was counting students, I looked around for Avery. Instead I found Fred walking towards me. I hurriedly tucked some hair behind one of my ears with my freshly painted black nails. I also made sure my bracelet was visible.
"Hey!" He greeted me with a wide grin.
       "Hey." I said back.
"Super excited for Zonko's. You?" I expected him to enjoy Zonko's what with all of his pranks and toys.
"Honeydukes is my favorite," I told him.
"Can't go wrong there. Licorice wands are the best!"
"No way, the chocolate frogs are!" I protested.
"Both wrong, all flavored beans are superior," Pj interrupted. He was a Ravenclaw our age. A Ravenclaw I happened to know Avery had a crush on. Where was she?
"Let's just agree that Honeydukes has a lot of great candy," I said. The boys nodded and PJ walked away. I continued looking around for some blonde hair and a blue scarf. My eyes finally fell upon her. And two Ravenclaw girls were playing monkey in the middle with her Transfiguration textbook by levitating it. She desperately jumped to try and grab it, but she couldn't get it without magic. Her wand was in the back pocket of one of the other girls.
"Hang on a sec," a told Fred. I pulled out my black wand. I didn't want to start a fight so I stayed standing where I was when I said,"Accio book!" It flew toward me as expected and I grabbed it and quickly hid behind a few Gryffindors. The girls' eyes had followed the direction of the book. They walked my way as I hid the book in my big coat. I stood up straight as if nothing had happened and the girls walked around looking for the conjurer of the spell. They didn't know it was me.
"Hey, who did that?" One asked. Everyone shrugged and ignored her. I hid behind Fred.
"Stay still and quiet," I whispered to him. He nodded.
I lifted my wand once more from behind Fred and whispered,
     "Wingardium Leviosa."
Avery's wand slowly slipped out of one girl's back pocket and floated towards me. She didn't notice it had moved. I grabbed it and hid it in my coat along with the textbook.
"Be right back," I told Fred. I walked to Avery and gave her back her belongings.
"Thanks. I could've gotten them back myself, but she took my wand." Avery said.
     "I know you could've." I said.

The first place Fred and I visited was Honeydukes. I purchased a dozen gumballs that each give you the voice I a different famous person. You don't know who it is until you try it. I was hoping for a Viktor Krum. He's my favorite quidditch player. Besides Fred of course. Viktor Krum might be a proffesional, but Fred was a good Gryffindor beater. And Fred is cuter.
Fred decided to save his money for Zonko's where he bought joke candy. He bought the little candies that make you sound like an animal. Next we walked outside and new topics of conversation were hard to come up with.
"Where would you like to go?" he asked politely.
"Could we go to the Three Broomsticks?" I asked. Warm butterbeer sounded really good at that moment.
      "Ooh, sounds good." He said.

We sat there drinking butterbeer which was delicious by the way. I had ordered a burger for me. Fred didn't order any food. It was no secret that the Weasley's weren't the wealthiest people in the world, so I knew that's why Fred wasn't buying a whole lot. I knew that's why he didn't order food. I didn't ask about it though because I knew it would probably make him feel bad. Instead of bringing it up, I gave him a lot of my fries.
"That was nice what you did for Avery earlier." Fred said.
      "Oh yeah I guess."
"And sneaky too. You're quite clever."
"No, I'm just use to watching out for Avery. I know she can defend herself, she's just too nice to do it." I explained.
"Well if I see anyone giving her a hard time, I'll be sure to take care of them."
"Thanks," I laughed. I looked down at my hand then to my new bracelet and watched the charms move about. I love magic. We changed the subject to would you rather questions, then how cool it would be to be a metamorphmagus, then we talked about people at school whom we hate, then teachers we hate, then quidditch and the rough game against Slytherin that's coming up.
"Why don't you play quidditch? You seem like you'd be pretty good." He said. I laughed in response.
"Yeah no. Maybe I'd be okay but not good enough to make the team." I said.
"Yeah well your house has a pretty good team but only because Malfoy's father always spoils them with equipment. We're good enough to beat you with rickety old broomsticks." He said.
"Ha you wish! Slytherin is THE best."
"Oh my god, I'm gonna forget you said that because you're cute," he said. I blushed and didn't know what to say next, so I decided to trash talk his team a little more. I didn't actually care that much, but it was fun to argue with him.
"Your team only gets support because you've got Harry Potter!"
We continued to playfully argue even though we both knew Gryffindor would win.

Back at Hogwarts Fred walked me to the door of the Slytherin common room.
"Well that was fun." Fred said.
"I agree." We stood there for a second not knowing for sure what social protocol dictates we should do next. Oh god was I suppose to kiss him? Or hug him? Or give him a hearty handshake?
"Um, bye," he said. And walked away. Dammit I thought. I made that way more awkward than it should've been.
