Nick was just minding his own business, being as it was a Sunday, so he didn't have the shop opened, when he was walking around his street in the evening. He really didn't mean to intervene on the situation at hand, really he didn't.but he was a red head...
and everything happens to the red heads..."YOU STUPID MUTT!!!" some man yelled at this great big great Dane, with a cigar hanging from his mouth and a stubble growing on him.
The man had stained clothes, looking like he didn't take care of himself, definitely not homeless as he had a trash car as well, which wouldn't be trash, if he had taken care of it, by the looks of the situation.
the dog he was trying to chase down with his belt, was coming towards Nick, who was snapped out of his wonderful evening very rudely by this disgusting man. The Dog wasn't in too great of shape either, looking starved and abused, poor thing had a scar going across his left eye, which shown out of one of the dogs many black spots on their almost dalmatian like fur.
The dog went past him, as the short, angry man came up towards Nick's 6'2" frame. Now, Nick wasn't a guy for animal abuse, or any abuse for that matter, so he promptly, after accessing the situation, punched the guy, which had knocked him to the ground.
Nick glared at the man, who returned it with just as much power. The man scrambled to his feet, dropping the belt and tried to throw a punch at Nick. Unfortunately for that man, Nick was a better fighter, and the man didn't know how to throw a proper punch, as he seemed intoxicated by what Nick could smell.
"Pardon me, but it seems you mean harm to that poor animal," Nick growled out at the man after catching his punch, crushing it in his own hand.
"o-oy! let go ya freak!" The man cried out, slightly in pain, the other in panic.
"Back off the dog," Nick growled out, as a final warning, before the man took off running.
Nick turned around, heading towards where he saw the dog heading. It didn't take long for him to walk by a alley that had whimpering coming from it. Digging out his phone for a flashlight, he ventured into the darkness.
"Here boy, come here, I won't hurt you," He called out into the darkness, which he was answered with by shuffling nearby.
soon a dog, probably the biggest he'd ever seen, came out from behind some bins. Nick bent down, showing he meant no harm, as the dog neared him. Reaching out his hand slowly, hoping not to get bit, he watched as the dog nuzzled it.
taking that as a sign the dog would go with him, he started the trek back towards his shop.
....................................................................................
When Nick was finished patching and cleaning the dog up, he got out some spare blankets and put them on the floor near his bed for the dog to sleep on...
Of course he wasn't expecting to turn around and be on the bed, looking at him, with a whine and tail wag...
"Ughhhh... fine, you can sleep with me," he stated, being already for bed, he climbed in and the dog nuzzled his face.
And he didn't even get to go get a coffee...
