Chapter Six

Shanes POV

I carried Astely qiuietly up the stairs careful not to wake her. When I reached the top of the stairs Sky and Felix stood at the door to mine and Joey's bedroom. I raised my eyebrow to them but continued into Astelys room.

"We'll be on watch tonight, Shane. Joey won't get near Astely!" Felix whisper yelled. I nodded as I closed the door. I went over to a bed and gently lied down with Astley in my arms. Joey was never going to get near her again. Not while I was still living.

Astelys POV

I woke up and instantly stiffened when I felt two arms wrapped around me. Did Rachel have a bad dream and come to my room? I thought about it for a minute but then....the memories of last night began to flood back into my mind. As I looked up, hoping it was all a dream and that I was back at home with Rachel, my hopes were crushed. Shane lied in bed with me, sound asleep. Joey had hit me.

"Shane?" I say softly, not wanting to wake him up. He stirs and his grip tightens as his eyes begin to open.

"A-Astely?" He yawns.

"What are you doing in my bed?" I ask, feeling the warmth grow in my cheeks. He and I were so close that there were no space between us. I'd never been this close to someone, ever.

Shane looked down at me, his cheeks rosy, and simply said," To protect you." I stare at him. Protect me? If i'm so worthless why would he protect me?

With me still in his arms he sits up. I don't mind being this close to Shane, he was strong and kind. Even if it was only for the sake of Rachel.

"Is something wrong?" He whispered in my ear. I jumped looking up at him, shaking my head.

"I can tell, your not the bubbly Astely you usually are, though I wouldn't be either after last night. But still, your not saying anything. Was it something I did? Something that was said? " He pushed.

"Why are you protecting me." I breathed. Shane gave me a look I'd never seen before. One mixed with anger, confusion...and something I could not quite place.

"Astely...I don't know what Joey said to you and I won't ask what he told you. But Astely... there is one thing I do know and it's that I love you." He said softly. My cheeks were glowing, and before I could respond Shane's lips came crashing into mine.

Well, this was an unexpected turn of events.

Shanes POV

I can't believe that just popped out of my mouth and that it didn't make me sound like a weirdo. Maybe it did.....I have no Idea anymore. All I know right now is that i'm kissing the girl of my dreams . Even though we had just met I felt like I belonged with her my whole life. Sadly enough all it took to get us together was my so called friend betting the shit out of her.
