Salty runnels of tears begin pouring down the adolescent's face as she watches her screen in pure adoration. Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun were the brightest, most beautiful rays of light in her world and nothing could possibly bring her down when she is surrounded by their beautiful sounds. Sonorous music fills the room as she melts in Tylers lyrics;"Before you know it, time is slowing
And it's frozen still,
And the window sill looks really nice, right?
You think twice about your life,
It probably happens at night, right?Fight it,
Take the pain, ignite it,
Tie a noose around your mind
Loose enough to breathe fine and tie it
To a tree. Tell it, 'You belong to me.
This ain't a noose, this is a leash.
And I have news for you: you must obey me.' "The words echo in the young girl's mind and she finds such a deep meaning in the stanzas. After all, music is poetry, there's just simply melodies in the background of the masterpieces. That's the very reason she connects and cherishes this duo, their music is more than just noise overlapping an idiotic rap about drugs or girls- they change lives with thier music, and that is a miracle in itself. They write about life, and decisions you have to make and obstacles you have to overcome. They write about self- worth and faith, about anxiety, fear and unleashing your mind in a way that allows you to be happy. Every song on every album has it's own special meaning, whether that be to a fan, or to Tyler, or Josh. Everyone has the ability to portray these lyrics in a different way because of the immense amount of thought and meaning behind each and every word.
All of the contemplation within the girl's mind sends her weeping again as she remembers just how broken and fragile Tyler was at the beginning of this whole journey of twenty one pilots. He's just a basketball player from Ohio who needed an outlet for his darker thoughts and so he started a band, and now he's touring the world with his best friend and has an amazing and huge fanbase and he's saving lives. He was merely a depressed 17 year old selling tickets with his mother around his neighborhood, preforming for small groups of family, friends and neighbors. Josh saved him, this band saved him. Those moments in a song where she can feel Josh's kick drum in her bones, when Tyler's voice breaks into a scream that fills the vacant space in her chest, it makes her feel alive. The thought of expericencing this live with them in the same room as her- her two biggest inspirations singing and drumming in time with her- would probably be one of the most memorable moments of her life. It would be one of her happiest memories and she would be so incredibly grateful to expericence it.
The girl picks up her pen and- against all that her parents have said- she writes;
"Dear Santa,
I know you're not real, but I figured writing this letter to Santa would make it more cheesy and get a better awe factor. Anyway, I just wanted to take a moment and express how immensely I love and adore Twenty One Pilots, and it would mean more than the world if I were to get concert tickets to go see them live. They are so important to me and it would probably make me the happiest, most grateful person in the universe. These two people, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, are more to me than just a band. They have inspired me so much, and pushed me to become a better version of myself and are continuing to push me to follow my dreams and passions in life. Seeing them on this world tour when they started out so small makes me believe that anything is possible. It makes me believe that I can do anything. I can accomplish anything as long as I set my mind to it, and no other band before them has made me feel that way. Before this could get any more sappy than it already has i'm going to wrap this up with a quote from Tyler Joseph;
'I want you to know something. Whatever's bringing you down, whatever baggage you brought into this room, you can use this music and use this show to leave it here. This is your last chance to give everything you have. Not to be too dramatic, but there's only two of us up here, we're doing our best. But all the things we do up here, don't you ever forget that you guys own the show, okay? This is you and I, and Josh, putting on a show for no one else. That doesn't matter, 'cause we're still gonna put on a show.'
With my kindest regaurds and best wishes, Happy Holidays,
~Brooke Levesque"
