7 | AN ADVENTURE AND A FUNERAL

"Finn, please just let Murphy carry her." Clarke urged the boy who seemed hellbent on carrying the
unconscious Raina. They weren't even close to reaching camp and Finn was already having to stop and readjust her so she wouldn't fall. She didn't know if it was because he was nervous and couldn't seem to find a good enough grip or because he was too focused on making sure she was breathing.

"Let him carry her? No way, not happening." He shot, determination in his eyes as he shifted the pale engineer in his arms once again.

"Hey, we're actually friends now. Kind of." Murphy defended.

Finn scoffed. "Yeah, I bet."

Wells was helping Clarke carry Jasper while Bellamy dragged the dead animal and Finn struggled to hold Raina upright. He was slowing them down.

"We'll never get back to camp like this with these two alive. Jasper's already lost too much blood and the more the poison spreads through Raina's blood stream, the harder it'd be to save her." Clarke paused upon seeing the worry take the determination from Finn's face and sighed. "Would you at least let Bellamy take her?"

Finn went silent. Bellamy handed the panther wrapped in a parachute to Murphy before he turned to Finn, easily annoyed with hearing the two's argument. "Clarke's right. We'll make it back there faster."

Finn was reluctant but nonetheless knew it was true so he gently handed Raina to him, then he looked back to Clarke who nodded in approval to him.

It stunned Bellamy too how pale Raina had gotten within the span of fifteen minutes. He noticed her breathes were shallow as well and knew if they didn't get back soon, she wouldn't survive. Not that he cared, though.

"What does it look like?"

"It should be in a small bottle."

"Clarke, there's like ten different bottles here."

Clarke sighed at Finn before she finally decided to stand up and just get it herself. Luckily, the Ark was generous enough to send them with a first aid kit. Unfortunately, in space, they didn't have to worry about snake bites so they never made an antidote and she was having to make do with what she had while also saving some for Jasper.

"Will any of these work?" Finn asked, his eyes were widened in concern and he was down right looking like he was about to be sick himself. Clarke kneeled down to the box, searching for anything that might mimic. Finn stood up, his stare bouncing from Clarke to Raina, even more pale and still unconscious. He ran a hand through his hair, exhaling a shaky breath.

"I, uh...read once that of you're bit by a snake, someone else can suck the venom out. Could that work?" Wells asked timidly. Clarke shook her head as she stood back up with a small bottle in her hands. "Too late for that. The poisons already entered her blood stream but this might help."

"What is that?" Finn asked as he followed her to Raina.

"Something the Ark made to prevent viruses. I don't know if it will work, but it's all we have."

"What if there's something out there we can use? Y'know, like how the grounders put a leaf on Jasper's wound?" Finn suggested hopelessly.
