11 | EARTH KILLS

They were running. After Bellamy left to try and talk some sense into Murphy, Clarke suggested they run if things didn't go as plan. She was right because Murphy and the hundred were hot on their tow.

"Raina, come on!" Finn ushered her. Raina was the furtherest behind and purposefully was. Running wasn't helping and wherever Finn was taking them seemed too far when Murphy was just a few steps behind. Raina purposefully fell behind because she had a plan she knew Finn wouldn't agree with.

"I'll distract them." Raina spoke. "Just keep Charlotte safe!"

"That's - "

"Murphy's on our asses, Finn. We'll never make it with her safe like this." Raina cut him off. "I'll be fine. I've made it this far, right?"

"She's right." Clarke spoke. "I don't think Murphy would hurt Raina."

Finn's eyes switched between the two in conflict. Raina heard Murphy screaming in the distance and pushed Finn to move. "Go. Now." The engineer demanded. The three took the other direction and Raina ran the opposite, making sure to step on every branch and twig possible and hope Murphy followed her.

The sun had went down and Raina was still running. She didn't understand how Murphy and his group were still able to chase her because her legs ached and she was utterly exhausted but merely the adrenaline was  what kept her moving.

"C'mon, Raina! You can't keep her safe forever!" Murphy's distant, taunting voice rang. "Give the kid up, Finn!"

Raina's breathing was labored as she looked over her shoulder. The bushes and trees moving indicated they were close. Before Raina could try to run faster, the ground beneath her suddenly disappeared and she found herself tumbling down a steep hill. The engineer yelped, holding her arms out in a desperate attempt to slow her fall but everything was moving in a blur and it was too dark to make out anything around her. A sharp pain shot up her left ankle as she hit what she could only assume was the ground.

"Son of a bitch." Raina swore under her breath as she pushed herself up to her feet. She looked up to see Murphy and his posse at the top of the hill with their makeshift torches, then one pointed at her. Shit.

Raina hobbled. Her ankle throbbed at every step but she knew she couldn't stop now. The Kane used a tree to balance herself, then forced an poor attempt to run.

Abruptly, a pair of hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her behind a tree. Raina almost would've screamed but didn't when she realized it wasn't a grounder or the hundred but Bellamy.

"Relax. It's just me." Bellamy muttered softly. "Where's Charlotte?"

"Finn and Clarke have her. I was distracting Murphy." Raina took it to look at her ankle which was no doubt sprained, if not broken.

"You okay?" Bellamy asked with genuine concern. He carefully examined her ankle and she forced a smile.

"Peachy." She responded. "I — "

"Murphy! I'm here!" Charlotte. Both Bellamy and Raina broke into a sprint (or more so Bellamy, Raina was still hobbling).
