"Hey, Dai. Smile."

The curvy letters on Daichi's wrist mocked him whenever he'd look at them. He'd try and cover them up, as a way to try and block out the inevitable future.

He hoped he wouldn't have to meet his soulmate. He hoped he wouldn't have to hear those words which would haunt him years after their death.

After the death of someone so important to him, left with these words like a cruel joke, he feared of living such an empty joke of a life.

That fear...

...was the reason for the tears that continued spilling from his dark eyes on that day.

He fell in love with Yui Michimiya probably at the same point she fell in love with him.

He couldn't help it.

They spent a lot of time together; her friendly demeanor and lovely face were factors that surely helped with developing those feelings.

Maybe what truly got them together was the shared anxiety between the two. He never asked what was written on her wrist. She never asked either.

They started dating, but not for long.

Daichi didn't break up with Yui because he had lost his love for her.

He loved Yui.

Every day more and more.

Which was why he had to end it.

On the day he broke up with her, she only smiled with teary eyes, nodded with understanding, and run away.

He didn't look at her to see whether she looked back at him.

He knew she didn't.

He was aware his actions were selfish and cruel; he would hate himself later for his actions. But then, he'd look down at his wrist. Take off the watch that otherwise always covered his fate. He would imagine Yui smiling at him on her deathbed and weakly uttering these words. And immediately all regret would disappear. He knew he was being selfish.

"Hey, Dai. Smile"

But who wouldn't be.

It was probably Asahi that made him and Suga get together.

It took a while to get used to Suga as something more than a friend. It was a slow process, but nonetheless he found himself falling for him harder as the time went on.

The way he stood. His smell. His beautiful silver hair sprawled on the pillow, reflecting the morning sunshine like the most intricate mirror. The way he'd open his eyes and take a while to focus them on Daichi. His angel-like smile and soft features he'd wake up to. His teasing. The laugh that would bounce off the walls of their shared apartment.

The way his tears would roll down his red cheeks, any time he was sad and a small frown appeared on his face. Sometimes when he got angry, and he'd scream at Daichi for ages before later on apologising, and both of them embracing each other.
