The sound of my annoying alarm clock starts ringing, as it is the sign for the first day of my senior year at Balwyn High. I contemplated and for what seemed like eternity and finally decided to get out of my comfy bed and threw my duvet to the side just so I could start getting ready and who am I kidding, there is no freaking way I could say that I do not love my beauty sleep other than my love for food.Standing up giving myself a good ol' stretch so I could feel a little bit more refreshed, but I instantly regretted it as I've already felt the urge to just go back to bed and continue sleeping. I'm pretty sure "Sleeping Beauty" is my middle name they should just call me Princess Aurora.
The smell of food flooded my nose as soon as I've opened my room door and I'm pretty sure mom is cooking pancakes downstairs. She sure makes delicious breakfast and I live for her cooking because she makes the best Spaghetti Carbonara and I'm pretty sure it is in our blood since we inherited part Italian from dad's family.
"Good morning hun, get ready for school cause it's the first day and you don't want to be late Althea." mother warned me cause being punctual has always been on her book and she does not like it when we are late for anything.
"Yes mom, don't worry. I will be ready in no time. But first, I gotta eat cause I'm starving." I whined to her and as if on cue my stomach grumbled.
"Don't forget to wake Audrey up after you're done eating to get ready for school. Love you!" she shouted while walking towards the door locking it as she went to her car heading to work.
"Alright, love you too ma! I will!" I shouted back before she drives off from our porch and onto the road.
Audrey Roosevelt is my little sister and she has been this little ball of happiness. Audrey is only six and she was born a few years after my dad Simone Roosevelt passed. It has always been us three girls in the family with my mom supporting the household. I do miss dad but I know he is always with us looking and taking care of his three little angels. I do occasionally work as well so that I could use my own savings to help out mother so that she don't need stress about our bills.
After I've finished eating, I went up to Audrey's room so that she could wake up to get ready and also to eat breakfast or else we're going to be late. I twisted the knob of her pink wooden bedroom door to see a little silhouette under the blanket.
"Audrey, time to wake up." I shake her body a little just so she knows that it's time to get ready for her kindergarten.
She started to twist and turn with her blanket and I find that gesture really adorable. Audrey slowly sat up on her bed and peel her eyes open and once she saw me, she had tackled me to the floor and attacked me with a bear hug.
"Thea, good moowning." she started giggling and so did I.
"Morning sleepy head, time to wake up." I carried her down the stairs and sat her down on the dining chair just so I could prepare the breakfast mom had made on her plate.
I brought the plate to the table and Audrey started digging in like she hadn't ate in months. I guess our love for food runs in the family cause I would never let food go that easily, and I do not share my food with anyone. No one touches my food.
"Goodness Aud, slow down. You need to chew it properly for the food to process." I scolded her while laughing at her chocolate covered face. I guess the chocolate syrup on her pancake gave her a beard and it was hilarious. She looked at me while giggling on her own as she had realized how she had looked through the reflection of the mirror on the table.
"It's okay Thea. I look jwest fine." She just smiled back at me showing her baby pearly whites. As I look at the clock on the kitchen wall, it is currently 7:10am which means I have not more than 40 minutes to get Audrey and myself ready for school.
We both went back upstairs to get ready, I started the bath for Audrey so she could get ready and changed so I can get ready after. I grabbed her uniform from her closet and passed it to Audrey so she could change while I went into the bathroom to shower.
I let the warm water simmer down my body as I wash my hair and scrubbed my body with my loofah. Once I have finished that, I went on to brush my teeth and wrapping the towel around my body after drying it then proceed to my closet to pick out my outfit. I took out dark skinny jeans and a lilac jumper with my favorite white converse.
I decided to put on light make up which only consists of only mascara with my favorite strawberry flavored chapstick. I decided to let my mid length hair down to air dry and comb through it to tame that messy hair of mine. I took my backpack and went down to find Audrey was already downstairs waiting for me.
"Took you long enuf, Thea." Audrey said as she was tying up her shoelace which was paired with her ruffle ankle socks. I find those socks really cute, I remember how I used to have them when I was younger at her age.
I brushed it off with a laugh and opened the front door letting Audrey out to the front porch. Taking my car keys from the key shelf, I locked the door behind me and took Audrey's hand walking towards my car.
Senior year, here we go.
