Dreary.
If asked, that's definitely how Luke would describe today. From the moment he managed to roll himself out of bed, he just knew this particular Thursday was bound to be shitty.
And now, being forced to walk the quarter mile to school, through the pouring rain, was only proving his theory further.
Shivering slightly from the downpour, he pulled his hoodie up tighter around his face, as he trudged through yet another treacherous puddle.
To anyone else, having to wake up at 6am, to a completely empty house, and walking through a storm, just to get to a place you don't want to be at anyway, would seem a little like hell.
But he was used to it by now.
Luke was always alone, and as sad as that might sound, he kinda preferred it that way. He had too many secrets that had to be kept, and having friends meant you had to open up to someone. Having family meant you had to do the whole "love thing", and as far as Luke saw it, feelings were just a big waste of time.
Funny how just one word can start a whole relationship isn't it? How one lie can shatter a whole decades worth of trust, and one leap of faith can flip your whole world and everything you know about it upside down...
