Kellin
I had another appointment with the doctor today. I had tried to convince Vic to let me out of it, but he said I had to if I wanted to feel better. I had dealt with everything in my life by myself that I didn't want to relive it with someone else, but I could see the sadness and worry in Vic's eyes, and I didn't want to. I agreed to see the doctor again, but I made Vic promise to stay in the room.
"Are you ready, Kellin? Tony should be here any minute," Vic said, rubbing my lower back softly with his hand.
"R-ready," I told him, even though I really wasn't. The doctor, Tony, made me nervous. The doctors back at home were cruel to me and often laughed at how my body worked. I was afraid that Tony would do the same, even though Vic has reassured me multiple times that Tony is very nice. I jumped when the door open, but Vic pulled me into a hug, and I felt better. Tony walked in and gave me a soft smile before nodding at Vic. He pulled up a chair in front of the bed Vic and I were sitting on, pulling out the same notebook he had brought last time.
"Hello, Kellin. How are you today?"
"Am g-good, how you?" I choked out. Vic and I had been working on my English, but it hadn't improved much. It was hard learning a new language, and even harder when you are shy and don't like speaking much in general. Tony said he was good and wrote something in his notebook. He continued to ask me questions, some the same as last time and some new ones. It was boring stuff like, "Have you felt angry again since your outburst?" and "How do you feel around the pack?" I answered them as truthfully as I could, and after talking with Tony for a while, I felt a little more comfortable. I now knew that I could trust him, so I didn't have to be worried anymore. After a few more questions, Tony grabbed his stuff, said goodbye, and left. I relaxed into Vic's chest, feeling a little tired from all the questioning.
"You did so well, sweetheart, I'm proud of you." Vic told me. My heart jumped when he said he was proud of me. Nobody had been proud of me in so long, and it felt good knowing I had done something right. I curled into Vic, resting my head on his shoulder. He planted a tiny kiss on my neck, tickling me and making me giggle. He laughed too, and when we had stopped our laughing fit, we stood up.
"Kells, do you want to go somewhere fun?" He asked me. I nodded my head excitedly. I hadn't been outside of the the pack's village since I got here, and I was getting a little restless. I had always loved adventures, and I couldn't wait. I hurriedly tied on the tennis shoes that Jenna had given me and stood ready at the door. Vic finished tying his shoes as well and looked up at me bouncing by the door.
"Well, someone is eager," he said, chuckling at my enthusiasm. I blushed a little and nodded my head, following behind Vic as we left the house. He took my hand and lead me towards the woods. We stopped at the gate, and he spoke to two other pack members, and both of them looked scary. I hid behind Vic as he talked to them, and soon enough, they opened the gate, and Vic led me out. I jumped when the gate loudly swung shut behind us but quickly reminded myself that it was okay. I had been practicing calming myself down and not being so scared of everything. I still flinched a lot, but I was getting better. I skipped down the path, getting a little ahead of Vic.
"I know you're having fun, darling, but please don't get too far ahead. I need to be able to see you." I stopped skipping for a moment, waiting for Vic to catch up to me. I didn't want to lose him either, so for the remainder of our journey to wherever we were headed, I stayed next to him.
Finally, we came upon a clearing. It was absolutely gorgeous, and I couldn't take my eyes off of it. The grass was a luscious green colour, and there was a huge lake in the middle of the meadow. Flowers danced in the wind, and the trees had apples that gleamed in the sun. I squealed and jumped on top of Vic, pressing kisses all over his face.
"Thank you," I told him, repeating it over and over. I wrapped my legs around his waist and hugged him tightly. He always made me happy, but this was just perfect. He knew how much I would love it, and the idea of him thinking of me when he came here released dozens of butterflies into my tummy. I jumped off of Vic and ran towards the lake. I didn't bother removing my clothes before jumping into the lake. I could feel my tail coming out, and blue light lit up the water around me. I smiled as my tail finished forming, splashing the water and giggling wildly. I looked over to see Vic taking his sweet time to join me. He walked up to the water's edge and smiled down at me.
"So, you like it?" He asked with a grin.
"Love it!" I shrieked, splashing around some more. Vic took off his shirt and shorts and jumped in. He swam over to me, planting a kiss on my cheek and wrapping his arms around me. I pulled him into another big hug, thankful that he had done this for me. I pulled away and swam to one end of the lake.
"Watch," I called out to him. He hovered near the shore, making way for me. I took a deep breath and shot across the water. I swam as fast as I could all the way to the other end of the lake. I popped my head out of the water and grinned at Vic. His mouth formed a perfect 'o' shape, making me smile brightly.
"That- that was amazing, Kells!" He exclaimed. I blushed as I swam back over to him. I gave him a sweet kiss and thanked him for the compliment. We continued to play in the water for the rest of the day, and Vic spent most of the time raving about my skills. It was the most fun I had, had in a long time, and I was glad to have Vic.
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter; I know I did. I think shy, mermaid Kellin is the cutest thing ever. Also, I wrote this weird collection of short stories based off of Selfish Machines. It isn't conventional fanfiction because it doesn't have any ships in it (in fact, it isn't very romantic at all), but it's based off lyrics from Selfish Machines. I've noticed that no one really reads the stories I have posted that aren't about Kellic, so I don't know if I should post this one. If you guys want to read it, comment down below to help me decide but some of the stories can be triggering if you are suicidal, so be warned. Also make sure to vote for the next story you want to read in my "Tags and Stuff" book thingy. Thank you for reading, and I'll see ya soon!
