Chapter 23

Patricia's POV

I sat in bed on my phone as a knock came at my door.

"Weasel, you know you don't have to knock," I laughed, setting down my phone.

"Sorry, it's me not Eddie," Nina spoke softly as she entered my room.

"It's umm ok, if you were wondering where Eddie is I don't know," I stuttered out.

"Actually, I was going to ask for your help with something since you're on bed rest, you know," she smiled as I nodded.

"Yea, what is it?" I questioned.

"Ok, so when we were in Victor's office I was going through his drawer and found this box. The thing about it is that it has Sarah Frobisher's name on it and she was the last Chosen One. The thing about the box is that it obviously had a lock on it but now it's enchanted so I would need a witch to help me open it..." she trailed off. I nodded, sitting up more as she handed me the polished box. My fingers brushed against the wood as I examined it. My fingers traced the writing as Nina watched me.

"So, are you more open to this whole witch thing?" she asked as I nodded a bit.

"Yea, I mean I have all of you to support me and I have Eddie," I muttered the last part as she smiled.

"He's never been this way over a girl before you know," she commented as I laughed.

"I find that hard to believe," I whispered as I squinted my eyes at the writing. She was about to speak when I swiped my hand over the writing. The words immediately disappeared as the box flipped open suddenly.

"Woah!" we both chorused. I grabbed the piece of paper on top as I unfolded.

"Read it out loud," Nina instructed.

"Ok,

Dear Diary,

Father has given me the Eye of Horus necklace. He says it is especially made for the Chosen One. It will help me get around all the secrets of this house. Father says I have to protect the house while the Supernatural War is going on or they can get all the treasures in the house. I am worried, the war is just beginning and there has already been a lot of Supernaturals getting into the house. I do not believe I will be able to keep them out much longer. I must go he's coming. -Sarah Frobisher-Smythe

"Eye of Horus?" Nina's face twisted in confusion.

"I think it's this," I spoke up, reaching to the bottom of the box and pulling out the necklace.

"This is beautiful," Nina muttered as she put the necklace on. It glowed red as we both looked at it in awe.

"Tonight we go into the attic," Eddie announced. Everyone around the room nodded.

"I'm coming," I interrupted.

"No," he stated immediately. I rolled my eyes as my hand closed into a fist. The light bulb in my lamp exploded as everyone else jumped. Storm clouds gathered outside as lightning struck and rain started pouring down. My head went into full confusion mode as the weather outside grew worse. This wasn't dark magic, why can't I stop? I'm always angry, why are my powers going out of whack now? "Baby, relax. Calm down." The sound of his voice was enough to make my powers relax.

"Your powers are starting to go out of control," Nina commented.

"No duh," I snapped as Eddie wrapped his arms around my shoulders.

"Stop, you need to calm down," he whispered.

"Nina and Fabian, you guys are going to go upstairs tonight, the rest of us are going to relax tonight," KT took charge as we all nodded again.

"I need to go downstairs," I uttered under my breath before getting up and going to the kitchen. I grabbed out a water bottle and a roll of crackers as Trudy came up behind me.

"Sweetie! I didn't know you were awake!" Trudy exclaimed. "Are you feeling better?"

"Yea but actually I haven't been sleeping well. You know nightmares and stuff," I sighed.

"Is there anything I can do to help darling?"

"No, the only one who's been able to get them to go away has been Eddie."

"You can stay up however long tonight if you need to," she smiled kindheartedly.

"Really?" I spoke in surprise as she nodded. "Thank you Trudy."

"Well it's five so you should start to get everyone situated."

Nina POV

I unlocked the door to the attic as Fabian and I crept up.

"This is creepy," Fabian commented as I nodded in agreement. Spider webs clung to the items around the room. A loud bang filled the room as I jumped and moved closer to Fabian.

"Scared much?" Fabian teased as I rolled my eyes. "Nothing's going to hurt you." I tripped over a box as I fell against the wall and fell through. I looked up to find the wall that I fell through closed.

"Fabian!" I yelled as I banged on the wall. How did I even get in here? My finger ran across the wall as I reached an carving like structure. My mind drifted back to when I fell; my necklace hit a similar carving when I fell. I pulled out the necklace and placed it against the carving as the door opened and I fell through.

"Nina!" Fabian exclaimed, going to help me up. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I'm fine," I reassured him as I placed my necklace on the wall. The wall opened as Fabian jumped at the red eyes looking at him.

"Scared much?" I teased as he gave me a look. "Don't worry I won't tell anyone."

"I-I wasn't sc-scared," he stuttered out as I laughed.

"It's a picture. Help me get it down," I ordered as he immediately helped. We set the picture down as he examined it.

"Who is it?" he questioned as I whipped out my locket and opened it.

"Sarah Frobisher-Smythe," I muttered as I showed him the exact picture in my locket.

"Where did you get that necklace?" he asked as I flipped the painting over.

"Victor's office, he stole it. It was meant to go to the Chosen One so I'm suppose to have it," I explained, examining what looked like Egyptian hieroglyphics.

"What's the Chosen One?" he inquired.

"Do you know what these mean?" He shook his head as I sighed. "Can you look them up on your phone while I tell you?"

"Yea," he muttered, pulling out his phone. I explained the whole Chosen One and Osirian thing to him as he nodded. The room was quiet for a minute after I finished until he let out an excited noise.

"What do they mean?" I questioned eagerly.

"Underneath the eighth stair," he replied as I smiled at him.

"We better get going," I spoke up, biting my lip.

"Are we going to look underneath the eighth step tonight?"

"Yes," I answered as he smiled and helped me put up the portrait.
