I was never on to have a big house and fancy things. I didn't live in the big cities like Chicago or New York. I lived at the end of Peace Avenue, ironic name involved with the story if you asked me, in the small town of Beaufort, South Carolina. Population of 1,967 and counting.

My house was your average yellow colored, two story home with white window panes, and a big white door. There's this one huge tree in the front and during the fall it would always be shades of red, peach, orange, yellow, green. I remember when my dad, siblings, and I would rake the leaves into a pile and jump into them. In the back there was a hammock that connected two trees and an old play set from when my siblings and I were younger.

I had a sister named Jade, she's 21 and went to a nearby college for journalism. She has dyed burgundy red hair and stands about 5'4" with blue eyes. My brother, Jordan, is 20 years old and is a Marine stationed in California, but he's down for Christmas. He has my dad's dark auburn hair and blue eyes, sometimes if you stared long enough, you could point out his crooked nose from playing football when he was in highschool.

It's obviously our Christmas break, well for me it was going to be my break in about 30 seconds, and I couldn't be more happier.
The bell rung and everyone was out of the school faster then you can say Christmas, and that's an understatement. I was always slow, my friends loved pointing this out to me everyday, so I naturally was out later then the rest. Plus, I didn't feel like being squashed like a pancake throught the doors by everyone else.

I see my bestfriends Summer O'Brian and Daniella Simons, we call her Danny, by my locker. I instantly smile at them and make my way over to them and throw my things in my locker, grab my bag and keys.

"Ice rink?" Summer says, her eyes lighting up. Summer ice skates and basically breathes the sport.

"Sure" I said smiling as Danny groans.

"Do we have to?" Danny says slumping as we walk to my red 2008 Pontiac Grand Am, that I saved up for ever since I was a freshman.

"How do you still not know how to ice skate?" Summer asks incredulously "Ive been teaching you since we were in middle school."

Danny shrugs "I'm not a fast learner, I take things slow" she says using hand gestures to slow.

"How about we go for an hour, then head to the cafe after for hot cocoa?" I ask "My treat."

"A scone too?" Danny asks with hopeful eyes.

"Only if you compromise to skate for at least an hour" I tell her.

"Deal" Danny said and immediately after Summer jumped for joy.

We all got in the car and headed to the ice rink for open skate.

My name is Julian Winter. I'm 17 years old and as for what you're reading, this is my story.
