Ok so this was written for an assignment in school and I probably failed but idc --------
She was jealous. Jealous enough to cast my only love into my own mirror. The mirror on which he had written, "My love, Esmeralda shall forever be fairest," with the charcoal from the dying kitchen fire. She envied me. After years of my older sister having everything I could wish for, she now wanted something I had. Her wish came to her soon. Within a few months, she had been asked to marry the prince from the next kingdom over.
A year passed and the baby came. She was born with dark ebony hair, cheeks and lips of rosy red, and skin so fine and fair that they called her Snow White. Not long after my sister saw her newborn princess, she died; that served her right. But her death wasn't enough. I was still so angered from what she had done to me during her raging jealousy.
Another year progressed and the king chose me as his next marriage. I headed to my rooms almost immediately after our grand wedding. The first thing I did was ask my love within my mirror:
"Mirror, Mirror on the wall, Who's the fairest one of all?"
As always, he replied:
"Oh queen, thou art the fairest in the land."
The years ambled by, and Snow White grew up as an innocent and sweet girl, so sweet that I began to like having her at my side. Until one day. I was in my rooms when I asked my mirror the same question as always, but he answered:
"Queen, thou art of beauty rare, But Snow White with ebon hair Is a thousand times more fair."
I was outraged.
I knew my love always spoke the truth. Once again I grew envious of someone. I could no longer look at the sweet girl. Now I understood the burning jealousy that had consumed my sister. My envy was like a disease that spread in my heart until I could not handle the presence of the child anymore.
I sent for my most loyal huntsman and asked for him to take Snow White away into the woods and rid the world of her existence. "I suggest that you bring me a token so that I maybe sure you've obeyed me," I added, causing him to frown. Of course he had no choice but to do what he was told. The huntsman left with nothing more than a nod.
What the he did not know was that I was watching him the whole time. In the mirror. Through his very own eyes. When he returned to the palace and withdrew the bloody heart from his bag, I knew full well that it was not the heart I desired most. Nobody had any knowledge of what had been done, so I ate the heart with such great fondness that the huntsman thought he had fooled me.
Days were spent doing my job as queen, and each cold night was spent pondering upon Snow White's whereabouts and what to do with my unreliable huntsman. Surely a feeble little princess like Snow White couldn't survive in the forest alone, at least not for long. I approached my mirror and, as always, spoke:
"Mirror, Mirror, on the wall, Who's the fairest one of all?"
There was a pause, and everything held still. After moments of anticipation, the mirror replied:
"Thou are very fair, Oh Queen, But the fairest ever seen Dwells within the wooded glen With the seven little men."
