You could say that Frank Ocean’s song “No Bonnie” inspired me to write this story; the link to the song is on the right hand side :’)
Prologue:
He placed his bags at the front door; they didn’t contain a lot of things, just a few pieces of clothing, a bit of cash. He scanned the room painstakingly making sure that he hadn’t left anything behind. He sighed deeply and made his way to the bedroom, quietly, engrossed by his sorrow thoughts. He sincerely wished that he could stay; he wished that he could spend the remainer of his life with her, he wished that he didn’t have to leave her. But no amount of wishing could modify his fate. He had to go for her sake; he didn’t want any harm to come to her let alone endanger her. He walked into the bedroom carefully, making sure not to wake her up. He sat at the edge of the bed watching her sleep calmly, even when she was asleep beauty radiated from her face, she had the type of beauty that no matter how long you stared at, you would never grow tired of, which he never did. Tears started building up in his tear ducts as he allowed his thoughts to consume him.
He never expected it to happen but it did, and he had no control over it, even if he could control it, would he have really stopped it? Even though it threw him over the edge with no remorse and juggled with his emotions. Even though it tore him apart, slowly, bit by bit, without him having the slightest clue. Even though it deceived him, making him think that he was invincible, that nothing could stop him. Even though it ruined him up the extent that it destroyed him and left him bare, stripped him of everything that mattered to him.He wouldn't have stopped it, even if he had all the power in the world.
He smiled lightly as sentimental recollection took over his body, reminiscing the memories that would always be part of him no matter what. He felt nostalgic. It was as though she engraved himself inside his heart.
It was beautiful, breathtaking, phenomenal, heart warming and indescribable all at the same time. It was so uplifting, so thrilling, so amazing. The intensity blew him away. It made him feel ecstatic. It exhilarated him. She exhilarated him.
But.
He was careless; he made a mistake, a mistake which he didn’t regret, and would never regret. And now, that mistake has cost him everything that ever mattered to him the most. That mistake was falling in love. He fell in love, and it was love which ruined him but completed him at the same time. It made him forget, forget about it all, and he wasn’t supposed to forget, forgetting has cost him ... well... everything.
He looked at her for the last time, drinking in her appearance, her beauty. The tears that built up within his tear ducts started to fall, cascading down his cheeks. He glanced at the alarm clock on the bed table
5:45 am
He had to leave now before it became too late.
“I’m sorry”
He whispered his voice husky. He dug into his jacket pocket and retrieved a note; he placed the note on the bedside table. He sighed deeply and kissed her on the forehead, allowing his lips to linger there for a few seconds too long.
This was goodbye.
He advanced out of the house, rapidly, before his heart outweighed his mind. The sun was starting to make an appearance, shades of beautiful oranges, pinks and purples were roaming the sky. The weather didn’t help his mood, if anything it sent him into the deep pits of melancholia. He blamed himself for it all, he couldn’t blame her, she hadn’t done anything. He was the one that forgot. He got caught up in the moment and forgot. And forgetting cost him her.
Short? I know....
