Dream Warriors

Prologue

Five years earlier

The full moon light glistens through the tree tops. The night is frozen in a tense moment. The beasts eyes glow golden. She crouches ready to spring. The hunter locks eyes with her, his cold heartless eyes nothing like the man she had thought he was. The beast launches herself at the hunter. She takes him down but he plunges a knife into her shoulder. A roar rips from her throat and she dashes away. Her shoulder sizzles and pain shoots through her whole leg. Silver. The knife must have been silver. The beast panics. Of course it was silver, these freaking people will never give her a break will they?

"Over there! The werewolf went that way!" The hunters yell. Pounding footsteps fallow down the path she took. She quickens her pace and speeds down the trail, careful not to hit any trees on her way down the mountain.

"Mamma?" A scared girl yells. The wolf recognizes the voice as her thirteenth year old daughters voice. The young girl stud in the middle of the park looking towards the streets, her back turned away from her mother. She wore her royal blue silk pajamas that she got for her birthday. She must have seen her mother leave and fallowed her. The wolf growls angry that she let her daughter fallow her.

The wolf breaks out from the trees, her white fur dyed with blood. The girl turns and screams. She stumbles back and falls, her eyes on the frightening beast. The hunters break through the trees and begin to launch arrows. The wolfs eyes widen and she turns her back to her daughter. She stands over her daughter protecting her from the shower of arrows. She launches at one of the hunters. She takes him down but a scream of agony rips through the air. She whips around and her world crashes down around her. Blood covers her daughters body. An arrow sticks out of her stomach and she lays on her back gasping for breath.

A roar breaks from the wolfs snout, louder and angrier then ever before. She attacks the hunters, slaughtering them all. She knew she didn't have much time at all before reinforcements showed up. She didn't want to change her daughter like this. It wasn't suppose to BE like this. She was suppose to sit down with her daughter and tell her everything. Let her daughter take time to digest it all and she was supposed to teach her daughter how to control herself and how to enjoy being a wolf. But now she's going to die unless her mother does something. But the only thing she can do is change her.

Werewolves don't heal super fast like the books and movies say. But they heal quicker then humans do. By far. Unless the wound is really bad and life threatening. The only exception to that is when someone is bitten all wounds inside and out heal. The person becomes whole.

The wolfs ears twitch and she is pulled out of her thoughts. More hunters are almost down the mountain and her daughter is still dyeing on the ground. She runs over to her daughter and crouches. She carefully nudges the girl until she is on the beasts back. She moves to the shadows carefully and sets the girl down. Hidden by the shadows she attacks the girl. She screams and begins to thrash.

The werewolf huffs and presses her paw down on the girls chest to keep her still. Her teeth sink into the girls flesh a second time and then the hunters burst into the clearing. The wolfs head jerks back and the young girls eyes flutter and close. She nudges her daughter and reinforces her daughters locked memory, hoping the girl will find a way to unlock them. Shreds of the girls flesh hang from the wolfs teeth and she takes off leading the hunters far away from her daughter.

Near dawn a wolfs howl of agony breaks through the air. The young girl wakes in her bed, her clothes covered in blood. She begins to shake terrified of what happened to her. But the now gaping hole in her chest screams in agony. She knows now who that wolf was and that the beast was dead.

The girls mother's body was found in an abandoned house a few miles out of town the next day. She had been torn to pieces like the ones in the park had been. The police reported that she and the men in the park were killed by a bear, which they hunted and killed. The case was closed and no one really gave it much thought. Everyone thought the bear was the one who killed them. But she new the truth and it will haunt her forever.
