Van
Is that an invitation to kiss ya? I am up for it!!!!!! X

You know I'm like on the other side of the city!

Van
The other side is not that far, love! X

Is that how it is now? You're gonna start calling me love and end your texts with X every chance you got?

Van
YES, LOVE!!!!!!!!! Do you hate that? X

I don't know yet, X.

"I've been looking for you all day," Steele said from the doorframe that was right next to the wall I was leaning against. I was just finishing my cigarette outside, while texting Van. I had made sure to avoid Steele all day because I was not ready to tell him anything about Van, not that I owe him any explanation really.

"Here I am," I gestured my hands.

"So, tonight at Bizarre, as usual?" Steele asked, with a cigarette between his fingers, ready to be lit.

"Oh, I can't tonight...." I swallowed. Steele tilted his head at me with an eyebrow raised. "I promised George for a Netflix marathon," I lied.

"Then maybe I can invite myself to your place? I'll bring pizza," he grinned widely.

"That sounds rad, Steele, but, we, uhm, we kinda wanna just hang out on our own tonight," I stuttered.

Steele tilted his head slightly towards me, raising an eyebrow, as smoke escaped between his teeth. "Are you okay, Brynn? You seem all weird today."

"Yeah, I am okay. Why?"

"I don't know. I mean, if there's something that you'd wanna tell me...." he murmured.

"I don't know what you're talking about," I faked a laugh.

I had no idea why I felt like I needed to hide about Van from Steele. But I did it anyway. My phone buzzed a couple of times in the pocket of my jacket, but I ignored it.

"I, uhm, I gotta jet. Sarah is dragging me to a meeting," I told Steele. I was an assistant fashion buyer at UO and Sarah was the senior fashion buyer. My job required me to have a good eye on fashion and wherever Sarah goes, I go.

"Yeah, yeah. I heard that she trying to pull in a brand by that band. Those three sisters..." Steele scratched his head, like he was trying to remember something.

"Haim. They are called Haim," I told him.

"Right! Right!"

"Yeah. They'll be launching a clothing line soon and Sarah thought it'd be great to pull them in," I explained.

"Alright. I am not gonna stop you then," Steele chuckled, gesturing his hands to the door. I entered the building through the back door and found my colleague, Janna, hanging around in the back office cum store room.

"Hey, Brynn, a guy was looking for you," she snapped her head when she saw me.

"Who?" I asked with furrowed brows.

"I have no idea. Blue eyed. Very Oasis-liked hair. Wears more black than The xx combined," she laughed.

"No way!" I told myself. "Van!"
