*Paige's POV*
He lowered me back to the ground slowly and I unwound my hands from his hair. It felt like we were the only two left standing here, until I was snapped out of my daze by a high-pitched whistle.
I spun around quickly and stumbled slightly because of the beer, but I felt strong hands on my shoulders to steady me and smiled. As I got turned around, I saw Madison and Jack gaping at us, looking a little too pleased with themselves.
I blushed and looked down embarrassed and Madison laughed and stepped closer to me and yelled over the music into my ear, "That was awesome."
I laughed and took a step toward her and felt Nathans's hands release my shoulders, "Oh shut up."
"No I'm serious, that was seriously intense. I've known him for as long as I've been with Jack and I've never seen him get defensive like that over any of his girlfriends."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head, "Again, I'm not his girlfriend." But did I want to be?
"Oh trust me, just give it a little time. He's seriously into you Paige," Madison grinned smugly as Jack wrapped his arms around her waist and she looked up at him from behind, "Don't you think so?"
He shrugged, "I have no idea what you're talking about, but sure babe whatever you say."
She knit her eyebrows together in frustration, "Don't you think Nathan likes Paige?"
Jack looked behind me at an oblivious Nathan then nodded, "Oh yeah, for sure. I haven't seen him this way for a while."
I looked at Jack, frowned, and said sarcastically, "Thanks Jack, solid backup."
He shrugged and smiled, "That's what I'm good for," he turned his head sideways, kissed Madison's cheek, and looked back up on the stage.
I turned and tried to sneak a look at Nathan, only to find him already watching me. I couldn't help but smile and take a few steps closer to him. We stood together for the rest of the concert, his arm around my shoulders as we swayed lazily to the music and stole looks at each other.
Before we left the track, Madison stopped us, "Wait! I want a group picture," she handed off her phone to a girl close to us and asked her to take it. Madison wrapped her arms around Jack and Nathan pulled me in close to him, his arm tight around my waist. We all grinned at the camera and she took two, right as the flash went off the second time, Nathan pinched my side and caused me to look up at him so I was laughing in the second picture.
After the concert ended, we walked back to the car, Madison on Jack's back followed by Nathan and I, hand in hand. We filed back into the car, me and Nathan in the back again and Madison and Jack in the front. The first few minutes of the ride were uneventful until Nathan reached over and took my phone out of my lap.
At first I tried to take it back, "Just hold on a sec," he smiled, holding my phone in one hand and lightly gripping my wrist in the other, trying to fend me off.
I gave up trying and waited for him to give it back, whatever he did only took a few minutes then he handed me my phone, a smile on his face. I looked over at him suspiciously and looked through my phone trying to figure out what he'd changed.
He watched me patiently until I suddenly realized what he'd done and started looking through my list, found his name quickly, and felt a smile creep onto my face.
I shook my head and texted him, 'Thanks for the help earlier,' I closed my phone and waited impatiently for him to check his phone.
A minute later my phone buzzed with a text from him, 'Of course, that guy was a jerk.'
I didn't send anything back, I only nodded slowly in response and looked down at my hands in my lap. I suddenly felt my small hand being wrapped up in his bigger hand. I looked over at him and smiled as our fingers intertwined, noting the relief on his face when I didn't pull my hand back.
He leaned forward toward the back of Jack's seat, not letting go of my hand, "Hey will you drop Paige off first?"
Jack nodded and I could tell from his side profile that he was smiling, "Absolutely."
We held hands the rest of the ride home. When Jack pulled up to my building, Madison got out, pushed the seat forward and let me out. I let go of his hand and turned around to see him getting out behind me.
He turned to look at Jack and explained, "I'm going to make sure that she gets inside okay," he nodded.
Jack only nodded and smiled a bit, "We'll be here."
Madison pulled me into a tight hug and whispered into her ear, "I told you so."
I pulled back and shook my head, smiling, "I had fun tonight."
Madison rolled her eyes, "I knew you would."
I smiled and turned to walk up to my apartment and felt Nathan's arm drape around my shoulders and heard Madison shout behind me, "Love you!"
"Love you too!" I smiled and shouted back then walked into the building with Nathan.
He walked with me into the shaky elevator, I'd normally just take the stairs but my apartment was on the sixth floor and I was still a little tipsy.
We stepped off of the elevator and walked down the hall, his arm around my shoulders and mine around his lower back. When we made it to my apartment I looked up at him, "Well this is me."
He smiled and nodded slightly, "Yeah I remember."
I nodded as he removed his arm from around me. I put the key in the door with him behind me and turned back around to look at him once it was unlocked, "Thanks for everything tonight, really. I appreciate it."
He nodded and looked down at me, "It was really no problem."
I smiled in return and he slowly leaned down and kissed me, soft and slow this time, not frantic and rushed like earlier. After he pulled back I looked at him, "You can, you know come in if you want and take a cab home tomorrow."
He shook his head, "You've been drinking and I don't want to take advantage, but we can talk tomorrow. I've got your number," he smiled and held up his phone.
I nodded disappointed and gave him a small smile, "I understand, good night Nathan."
He put his hand on my face, "Good night Paige," he smiled and leaned down and kissed my forehead, then turned and walked back down the hallway. He got onto the elevator and we kept eye contact until the doors of the elevator slid shut.
I opened up the door of the apartment, walked in, and made my way to bed, dreaming of green eyes all night.
