Yuu had some how convinced the army that Mika was a good vampire and could live among human. At first, no one would listen, claiming that all vampires were heartless monsters, but, after the vampire Shahal, their viewpoints had changed.

Maybe there were a few good vampires out there. A few who could live among humans. Under close surveillance, that is.

After doing a bit of research, they had somehow set up an elaborate trap to lure Mikaela out. It had worked, too, and Yuu was there to help out with this, seeing as it was his idea.

It was chilling autumn day when the plan was put to action. The Shinoa Squad had just arrived at the location they had been instructed to go to. Like most the areas they went to on missions, rubble and old, broken buildings surrounded them.

From the roof tops, Yuu could see Yoichi, Shinya and a few other nameless faces ready to strike if some happened. He also knew that others were hiding around the area as well, in case backup was needed.

Yuu stood in the middle of the road, awaited for his blonde haired friend. When they had arrived, it had been noon. Now, after several hours, it was almost sundown. Yuu's legs were tired from standing for so long, and his stomach growled from not eating anything for so long. Yuu looked up, searching for Guren who was in charge of the mission.

"Are we done for the day?" Yuu called up where he thought he was. He stood up, shouting back at him.

"No! Now shut up and don't blow our cover."

Yuu threw his hands up in disbelief. Did Guren really expect him to stand here all night and wait for his eyed-vampire?

"Stupid, Guren," Yuu said to himself.

Off in the distance, a stone fell, leaving a loud echo for miles around. Yuu jumped, startled by the sudden noise. Out of instinct, he reached for his sword at his hip.

The air fell silent and time seemed to slow down as they waited in anticipation. Without even looking, he knew all the archers and snipers were ready to release their arrows and bullets. Everyone on ground level seemed on edge as well, preparing to attack the incoming threat.

A shadow appeared in the fading light around the corner. Yuu's breath hitched as he watched the figure appear. He had a feeling it was just who they had been waiting for all day.

Mika emerged, slowing walking toward Yuu. When he stood in front of him, just a few feet away, he stared at his green-eyed friend. Not a word was said for minutes, and they didn't look away from one another. Finally, Mika spoke.

"How many are watching us?"

"Fifty."

Mika let out a chuckle of disbelief. "Really? Why take so many cushions for a meeting between us?" Yuu gulped, rubbing his hands against his pants. Mika noticed it as a nervous habit of Yuu's. Yuu watched his eyes widen and Mika reach for his sword. "This is a set up, isn't it? I should've known--"

"No!" Yuu shouted, reaching to stop Mika from pulling out his weapon. There was a shoot to kill order if either of them revealed a weapon. "No," Yuu whispered in a calm voice. "We have a proposal for you, and you only."

Mika examined Yuu suspiciously before letting go of this weapon. "Continue."

Yuu sighed in relief. "I assume you've heard about Shahal?"

"Who hasn't?"

"Well, I've been trying to convince the others for months now to allow you to live among us. Among humans."
