(Sapphire's POV)
The car screeched towards the edge, the distance remaining between the car and the edge wasn't even a few inches, though something still held me back from running to Darren's side.
Tears started gathering in my eyes, ready to roll down my cheeks the second I allowed them, but I held them back.
"Darren!" I screamed again, my throat burning.
I snapped my head towards Adrian as I heard a faint voice creep into my head. "Now you'll see the pain I had to endure when my mate left me.”
The voice sent shivers down my spine. My head whipped over to Z2, who had both hate and sadness visible in the glare she sent towards Adrian.
The car was now a few centimetres from falling into the rocks. The warm tears streamed down my cheeks. I felt so helpless.
At last, I wiped the tears from my cheeks with the back of my hand and I ran for Darren. I wasn't going to let him die. Not now.
Adrian saw me getting close fast. I had almost reached Darren when a talon swiped me across my chest. I staggered to the side a little before falling onto the asphalt road. I lifted a hand up to my bleeding upper torso, that wouldn't stop me. I picked myself back up and resumed my journey to the car, more tears following the tracks left by the previous ones as I caught sight of the car wobbling over the edge.
The Ave flew into the sky, waiting for the perfect moment. The moment soon arrived. He swooped down for me with his talons held in the perfect position to cut me to pieces.
That only made me more determined. Scared, but determined.
I forced myself to run faster, to hopefully escape his range. With the speed he was going at, I wouldn't have a chance to make it, but I want to try.
I glanced briefly to the Ave, his terrifying screech ringing in my ears. A fast breeze flew past me as another Ave crashed into Adrian—Zoe.
They landed with a loud 'CRASH!' on the road, Zoe didn't hesitate to dig her talons sharply into Adrian's stomach, allowing the warm, red liquid to seep slowly from his bird-like body.
I made it to the car in one piece, but half of the car's body was still hanging over the edge of the cliff—with Darren still inside. I grabbed onto the door and tried to pull it open, the dents making it unnecessarily harder.
I was soon joined by Rosy, Aunt Farris and Z1, who assisted me in saving Darren.
Adrian had just escaped from Z2 as we got the door open. He didn't hesitate for even a moment to attack again.
“Darren!” I yelled, shaking his body frantically in attempt to get him to wake up.
The Ave narrowly missed me, hitting Rosy instead.
“Rosy!” we all gasped.
“Darren, wake up!” I sobbed. “Wake up!”
Adrian raised his talon over Rosy, ready to deal a powerful strike. I knew that Darren wouldn't wake up, his wounds were severe enough to have killed him by now.
I walked away from Darren with tear-stained cheeks, my pace accelerating with each step. I focused solely on Adrian now.
Only a few feet were separating us. I dropped to my knees and screamed as pain shot through my body. My bones moved around, growing and shrinking inside my body. I had fur...and paws...I'm...a werewolf?
The pain-filled scream grabbed Adrian's attention, though when he turned around, it wasn't his usual grin playing on his face, but a shocked, yet disgusted look instead.
“A werewolf?” he chuckled, creeping away from Rosy.
“A...what?” Rosy attempted to repeat, but the shock prevented her. Aunt Farris and the Z's were also stunned at my sudden transformation.
I bared my teeth and snarled as the Ave came closer to me.
He paused for a moment, turning his head towards the car. My vision followed his.
“Don't you dare,” I spoke with my mind.
He shot me a grin before charging at the car, which just happened to be toppling towards the edge of the cliff.
I ran after him, leaping into the air and digging my fangs into his flesh. His flight pattern was disoriented as he fell to the side, my weight dragging him down.
I let go as soon as he fell low enough for my feet to touch the ground, watching as he fell off of the edge... as he did, he knocked the CAR!!!
Z2 ran to the edge and began sobbing, watching as her mate fell to his rocky doom.
I ran to the car, seeing as it was about to fall over the edge. Darren was probably still inside.
My bones began dislocating themselves again, reverting me to my human form. I was naked, but I couldn't care less right now.
I reached into the car, panicked, trying to get Darren out before it was too late. Rosy, Aunt Farris and Z1 were attempting to pull the car back onto the ground, but with Darren inside, his weight pulled it down.
I grabbed onto Darren's wrist and pulled him out of the car as the girls' grips weakened and allowed it to fall over the edge, crashing into the water and creating large waves.
Everyone helped me pull Darren up, laying him on the road.
I stared at Darren's lifeless body, beginning to cry again. Rosy took off her coat and placed it on my shoulders.
“Don't worry Saf, everything'll be fine,” she reassured me.
I leant over Darren, whispering quietly into his ear, “Darren...please, please wake up...”
The warm tears rolled down my cheeks and landed on his face as I placed my hand on top of his.
“Darren...”
(Darren's POV)
Sapphire...
The name echoed in my head.
I must wake up.
For Sapphire.
I felt something small, warm and wet hit my face.
She is crying.
And what's worse, is that it's because of me that she's crying.
I can't let this go on any longer...
I forced my eyes open. It was quite blurry, but clear enough for me to see Sapphire.
“DARREN! You're awake!” Her arms wrapped around my nude body tightly.
“Sapphire...you...you spoke!” My eyes widened in surprise, a smile appearing on my face.
She didn't say anything.
Her faced edged closer to mine, lips slightly parted and eyes closed.
I moved my face closer to hers, our lips meeting in the middle, a soft, passionate kiss.
