I woke up to the sound of my alarm clocks loud, annoying beeping. I groaned and hit the snooze button. I rolled over, pulling my pillow over my head. Talia and I had been up past two. It was now seven o’clock. I had gotten less than five hours asleep, and I now had to go to work for the whole day. It would take a lot of energy to call people all day long, meet with clients, and work with stresses out brides. I just need a large coffee.
I eventually got up and walked out to the kitchen. I grabbed an energy drink from the refrigerator and opened it. I knew it wasn’t healthy, but there was no way I was going to survive off of five hours of sleep. I could barely last on nine hours. This was going to be a long, long day, but there was nothing I could do to prevent it.
I grabbed the remote that controls the music in the apartment and pressed the power button. I had this really cool thing installed in the place. It played music in whatever room you wanted. If Talia was sleeping in her room, I could have it played in just my room and nowhere else. If both of us were getting ready, it could be played in the bedrooms, but not the kitchen, dining or living room. Granted, it was a lot of money, but it was worth it.
I knew Talia had gone to work, so I played it throughout whole house, and walked back to my bedroom to get ready. My room looked pretty cool in my opinion. It was bright pink with a huge queen sized bed in the middle of the room. My dresser was to the right of my bed, along with a desk. I need it because if I wasn’t at work, and was home sick, I still worked at home. All of the walls had quotes about weddings and love. I had it professionally done in black paint so it would stand out. My bathroom walls were the same as my bedroom.
I walked into my bathroom and took my hair out of the messy bun I had out it in last night. It had gotten curly overnight so I plugged in my curling iron. I had an extended sink, so half of the counter had hair crap everywhere, and the other half was makeup and beauty products. I walked over to the other half of the counter and started applying my makeup. I didn’t put too much on, just enough to accent my features. About fifteen minutes later, once all of my makeup was on, I started on my hair. Normally, I spent most of my morning making my hair perfect. I had long reddish hair, with brown highlights. In my opinion, it was what made me pretty. I wasn’t ugly; I just wasn’t a Victoria’s secret model.
About thirty minutes later, my hair was curled. I grabbed my keys and walked out of the door. Another plus to being a wedding planner was that I got to wear nice, pretty clothes every day. Today, I wore a blue, knee length, sleeveless dress. I wore black heels with it. I carried a blue purse that matched the dress, and had silver jewelry that also matched the dress. I loved wearing outfits like this one. It made me feel so professional.
I got to my car and noticed a note taped to the driver side window. I took it off of the window and started reading it.
Gabriella,
I called my sister this morning, and she can’t thank you enough. She
is so excited to be working with you. Thank you so much for giving her this
opportunity. She said she was going to call you this morning about eleven
if that’s ok. If not call her at this number: 555-0921
Will
I smiled. This girl seemed like a really down to earth person.
I was about to climb into my car, when something fell down from the window. I bent down and picked it up. It was a small piece of paper that said, “Call me- 555-4578- Will” I looked at the piece of paper for a minute. I just met him last night. I didn’t even know him. I shook my head and climbed in my car.
It takes about fifteen minutes to get to my office from my apartment. With traffic though, it took about thirty minutes. I got to the office around nine o’clock. I walked in, and noticed my assistant was already in. She met me at the door. “Here’s your coffee.” She handed me a large cup.
“Thank you so much. I was up late last night. The wedding went overtime.”
“You are very welcome. Ok you have a meeting in fifteen minutes the client just arrived so ill brief her over everything. After the meeting, you have to call the bouquet shop and make sure everything is going smoothly over there. We currently have four weddings booked for flowers at that shop. So, we don’t want them to fall behind and let us down. Oh, and your mother called.” By the time she was finished talking, we were at my office.
“Great, as soon as you’re done with the client, send her in. if my mom calls again, tell her I’m busy and ill call her tonight, and of course that I love her. I’ll call the bouquet shop now, so I won’t forget. A client is supposed to call about eleven. I don’t know her name, but ask her if her brother’s name is Will. If it is, book her as soon as possible.”
“Will do, boss. Here’s the flower shop number.”
“Thank you.” I walked in my office and shut the door. I walked over to my desk and spun around in my chair. My office was set up so that when clients walked in, they felt warm. There were two red armchairs that sat on one side of my desk. This was where the clients would sit when they came in. my desk was huge. I had a lot of paper work that was very important, so it needed to be neat.
Eventually my client came in. she was a new woman who I had not dealt with before. I stood up. “Good morning. My name is Gabriella Hera, and you are?”
“My name is Katherine. I hear you’re the best wedding planner in New York.”
“They sometimes say that.” I smiled at her. “When did you get engaged?”
“Well that’s the thing. I got engaged over five months ago. I had a wedding planner, but she bailed on me.”
“Not a problem. When is the date of your wedding?”
She had a guilty look on her face. “It’s in two weeks.”
“Ok, um how much was planned exactly?”
“She got as far as the flowers, but that’s about it. She didn’t even book a venue.”
“Oh, wow that’s not a lot at all. Ok we can do this. I promise ill make all of dreams come true for your wedding, ok? You just have to trust me.”
“Don’t worry. You have all of my trust already.”
“Great. Let’s get started.” The client was in my office for about an hour and a half. By the time it was over almost her whole wedding had been organized. Call had been made about the venue, new flowers, and the menu. It was eleven when she left. My assistant came in and told a call had been made and that is was the girl I had been waiting for. Apparently her name was Ashley. She had an appointment for two o’clock today. I was actually looking to meet her. And I only had to wait four hours until our meeting. With the amount of work I had to do, I doubted like it would seem that long.
When my assistant left, I put my head down and tried to take a nap, but as soon as I started to doze off, my phone rang. Typical. I shook my head trying to wake myself up, and answered it.
