About a year ago I came from Tokyo, Japan to Hollywood, California. The reason I did this was that there wasn't many women, or even men, around my age. It's not that I'm against the idea of an older lover or anything, I just like people around my age. Where are my manners? My name is Koji Fujioka. I'm Japanese as you would have probably guessed but, there's something a little bit unique about me. I'm a neko, as in a cat person. In my case, a cat boy. It's not rare to see a neko but it's not common either. In the U.S, not many people are, well, ok with my kind. Despite that, I still decided to go to California. Hollywood no less. My life is fine so far but I've had no luck with getting a girlfriend. I get one find a girl a like and then she usually turns me down saying it's weird.

I don't know how but I've made a living for myself writing novels. I've only wrote a couple and I'm not incredibly rich or famous. I've only got enough money for me to continue renting the apartment I live in, essentials for living, and a few hobby items here and there and I've only been recognised by a fan once. Last time I checked my social media, there was maybe 750 – 1000 followers. I'm not sure about how many people actually buy and read my novels.

Anyway, I guess I should get to bed. I need to stop thinking about what I'm gonna say tomorrow for my book release party. Standing on my balcony, in a shirt and underwear, I take a sip of vodka as I lean on the railing. "I love my vodka. Doesn't taste like anything really but it sure makes you feel like a strong Russian man." I whisper with pleasure. I have a little hiccup and put my glass of vodka inside, next to the bottle. Usually, if I have a hiccup it means I'm drunk, so I had best get to bed before I do something stupid.

I hear a ringing in my ear. Realizing that it was my alarm clock, I slapped my palm onto it rather lazily. It stops. "Just a few more minutes." I remark sleepily. I remember my book release party and I jump out of the bed, panic causing me to spring to life. I check the clock. There's only 20 minutes before I have to be at the publisher office. I brush my teeth and I get dressed into a black business suit but I don't eat breakfast, instead I drink some coffee while running towards the publisher's office.

I arrive at the office with only 5 minutes to spare. I race towards the conference room where the book release party is being held. Just as I'm about to enter a man comes out from the room and I crash into him. We land with me on top clinging to his jacket. When I've realised what I'm doing I let go. "Um, sorry sir!" I exclaim, cursing my cat-like habits under my breath as I get up off him and help him up. "You're the author, Koji, I presume. I was coming to get you from your apartment. We were going to delay the party. Anyway, you should get inside. You need to do a speech." He calmly states. I nod in a flustered panic and rush up to the my speech.

Midway through the party the man from earlier comes up to me. "Hey Koji, I didn't introduce myself earlier. My name is Jack Smith. I'm a new editor in the office." He explains this but my small giggle bursts out from behind my hand. "You're name is Jack Smith? You're a "Jacksmith" then?" I laugh at my own joke and I notice him smiling at my joke. My cheeks start burning up and I realise that I'm blushing. Why am I blushing? Calm down, calm down, calm down Koji! You like women, not men. "Anyway, Koji, mind telling me what you're name means?" Jack inquires about this with a flirtatious look and voice. I'm loosing my cool, this isn't good. I'm all flustered and it's hard to talk. "W-well um. Koji means shining and Fujioka means wisteria hill." "Well, your name definitely suits you, seeing as you have a bright personality." Why am I so god damn flustered!? I mean, yes he is hot. I like women but! I get a glass of water and take a sip as the big boss of the office walks over.
