"How could you do that?! I trusted you!" Jason Grace bellowed, his red face with anger as Christina Davenport stared back at him with a confused look on her face.

"Why are you angry?" she said raising her voice as the waves of Long Island Sound beside them muffled their voices. "You of all people should understand!"

"No, I don't understand, Christina! You lied to my face! You...You.." he stammered, not having enough strength to say the next words in his mind. Even thinking about it, breaks his heart into tiny pieces, almost as fine as the sand underneath their feet.

"Say it," she grunted. "Say it, Jason."

"I-I can't..." he said in a raspy voice. He looked out into the ocean as if wishing that all of this is not real, that all of this is nothing but one of those nightmares demigods like him often get. But when a couple of minutes later, he didn't woke up from slumber, he abandoned all hope that he was only dreaming.

"Why are you acting proud of what you've done?" he said almost breathlessly.

"Why shouldn't I?!" she exclaimed, throwing her hands in the air. Jason Grace stared at him as if she just turned into an ogre with six arms.

"You did that because of what? Honor? Valor?" he exclaimed with a glimmer of hope in his eyes. Hope that she will deny it. Prove him wrong. But that hope soon faded when he heard her next words.

"Of course! You used to be like that, Jason! Honor or nothing! That's the Roman way!" she shouted back at him as the waves drew stronger beside them, like the sea could feel their anger.

"Don't you ever compare yourself to me!" he bellowed as he closed the distance between them. His eyes were blaring with anger and spite. "I will never risk the life of another person for honor!"

"Collateral damages, Jason! Necessary casualties!" she exclaimed which made Jason's face look at her in horror.

"I will never risk the life of another person like that." he said again with convicting and loathing in his tone.

She was silent for a couple of seconds. She didn't want to speak, fearing that her voice will falter as she tried to held back her tears.

"Then you're a coward." she muttered after gathering enough strength to keep her tears from falling.

"Who are you?" he breathed out in disbelief as he searched her gray eyes for the girl he loved but she was nowhere to be found.

"Christina Davenport, daughter of Hecate, Fourth Cohort of the Twelfth Legion Fulminata." she said after taking a step back and showing him her best Roman salute. "Senatus Populusque Romanus!"

Jason Grace looked at her as if she was a stranger he had never seen before. He stopped the tears forming in the brim of his eyes from streaming down his face.

"I can't believe I actually left Piper for someone like you." he impassively said before walking away without looking back.

When Christina made sure that he was long gone, she dropped her salute and let her knees fall on the sad as she let out fits of sob. She let the strong waves muffle her sobs. As the sound of the waves beside her became harsher and almost deafening, her sobs grew louder.

She didn't stop crying as the tide drew closer to her. She didn't stop crying when the waves started crashing on her legs.

"Why did you do that?" a familiar cold voice behind her said. Like always she didn't notice Nico di Angelo's presence in the shadows. "It wasn't even you."

She wiped the tears from her eyes with the back of her palm which was useless since another stream of tears replaced them. She slowly stood up, with her back on the son of Pluto and her eyes still staring where Jason stood a couple of minutes earlier.

"Jason Grace needs to board that ship with Piper McLean as his girlfriend or it will be the death of him." she said in a voice that was almost a whisper.

"But it will be yours." he said in heavy tone. "The underworld doesn't suit you, Christina."

She turned to face the pale boy with his face always filled with despair and sorrow.

"The Fates have decreed it." she smiled as tears streamed down her face.

Author's Note: This story took place during the months after the first book "The Lost Hero" and before the second book "The Son of Neptune". Also, this is a fanfiction between Jason Grace and the original character, Christina Davenport. Don't hate me, I too know, that Piper McLean and Jason Grace belong together.
