I wrapped my silky smooth bandanna onto my head. Looking at some of my old tattered ones that hung on the wall, I was glad I was able to get a new one.
"Gale, you ready to go?" the sound of my mother's voice echoed off of the walls that had areas where the paint was chipping off. I grabbed my bag and weakly threw it over my shoulder. The door handle sent a cold sensation up my arm, as I turned it. I slipped my small white slides on and carefully ran down the stairs. I walked passed my mother, heading for our squeaky front holding, so I could get into my mom's large car.
"Honey, aren't you hungry?" she asked. I shook my head, my bandanna loosening a bit. I was hardly ever hungry in the morning. I just never felt the urge to eat. I opened the front door, only to be met with frigid air.
Our car parked on the road, filled with small cracks rocks. I walked down our beige driveway, and put my hand onto the car door. Opening it almost noiselessly, I threw my bag into it and climbed in. My hands shivered underneath my gloves, that didn't cover my finger tips. I turned my thoughts to see my mom running down the sidewalk, carrying her coffee, and wrapped in puffy black jacket. Her shoes, used up tennis shoes covered in mud. She was going to head to work after dropping me off to school.
...
I briskly shut my locker, turning around only to find myself running into Araceli, my old friend. We had known each other since we were about 5, our mothers are still best friends to this day. Araceli and I used to tell eachother everything, until the first day I wound up in the hospital. She would come and visit me everyday, until the fourth day, of my second month in the building, filled with tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
I was sitting in my bed, anxiously awaiting for her arrival. She never came. I waited day after day, to never see her visit me again. All of the visits, phone calls, and text messages had stopped. Our friendship had stopped.
"Ew, get out of my way, you little brat!" she shouted in my face. My eyes opened widely, as I turned the other direction and walked to my first class. I had been at school for 30 minutes, and I was already wanting to leave.
"Hey Gale," my favorite teacher Ms.Carnway said, "would you like to go down to the younger student and draw with them?" she asked. I had finished my work for the day, I had always been ahead of the others. When I was in the hospital for those three months, i made sure to get as much studying in as I could, and it payed off. I nodded my head, going down with Maria Baker. She had luscious brown hair, and perfect hazel eyes. She was the class president, and was the star of pretty much every sport we had. Maria had rarely ever talked to me, and I thought I would be the one to change that.
"Hey, are you going to?" I asked. She nodded her head not saying anything. I was hoping for a larger response. The walk down the long hallway was filled with silence, until we came upon the kindergartners classroom. Each of us took three little girls to draw with.
"Why is that on your head?" one of them asked me, pointing to the silk bandanna wrapped around my head.
"So my head doesn't get cold." I replied.
"But what about your hair?" she asked.
"I don't have any." I quietly replied. She engulfed me into a hug around my legs. I bent down and hugged her back.
A/N: Here is a new story I just stated working on :) I know I never finished the one, but I've been working on it a bit!
