Warm blood dripped down my wrists. My breath hitched as the reality set in. I felt tears well up in my eyes as I stared down at the body.  I was straddling its waist and I sat back. My stomach felt like I had swallowed bricks. My bones were putty, and my muscles were stiff. Everything stopped moving; the clock pendulum was stuck between up and down. I was focused on nothing more than the body in front of me with blood spilling out of its mouth and out of its chest. I thought I could hear its heart still beating, but it was only mine pounding aggressively in my ears. The tears that were in my eyes began to descend down my cheeks and off my chin. They landed on the body’s chest and splashed against the blood that was already pooled there. I tried to breathe in, but my lungs rejected the air. I fell sideways, catching myself with my blood stained arms. I looked at the ground. In my mind, I ran through what had just happened.

I just killed my boyfriend.
