I grabbed my pendant and looked to the stars. Tonight was the night of the raccoons to awaken from their bodies and be human for the year, and for me to be a raccoon for the year.

It was tradition for the blood ancestors of the raccoons to come to the forest every year to switch bodies and evolve. It has been like that ever since there were raccoons.

The tradition worked like this, you came into the forest, gave the dance ritual, you gave your prayers, and at the stroke of midnight you evolved into a raccoon.

No human has ever seen the ritual. If any true blood human did see the secrets of the evolvement of raccoons, it would mean the end of the raccoons.

As guardian of the raccoons I had a heavy responsibility of keeping the secret safe, and I have for hundreds of years.

My friend Rakan came over and put his hand on my shoulder, "A fine night to transform Sasha, eh?"

I turned and faced him, to a human he looked emo. He had black mullet hair and brown soft eyes, his pale arm was covered with tribal animal tattoos and was very musculer.  He wore a yellow leather jacket and black baggy pants.

"Yes, a beautiful night. But every year, it seems it gets harder to live as a raccoon. True blood humans seem to control most of the world. The world destroys around us and we have no power over it." I sigh and hold his hand in mine.

"As your friend, I really hate to see you down. But think of it like this, when we transform, I promise we will be happy." he said swinging my arm like a little kit.

Even though he looked tough, he had a soft heart. I liked him for that.

"Thanks Rakan, you always know how to cheer a soul up." I said smiling.

We skipped around like little kits or children and sang the ancient song of the raccoon,

Little raccoons, Big raccoons,

Come and play today,

Come and skip the night away,

Sing along to the ancestor's song of the blood raccoons,

Lalala lalala,

Jump and skip,

let us fly,

Come and let us see,

lala la la la...

We both laughed in the end. It brought back memories of when we were kits. When the world was at peace and the sun shined brighter.

"You call yourselves warriors? Ha! I call you immature." said Kiki

Kiki wore her blond hair in a braid and her soft blue eyes gave her a kind look to her face. She wore a green dress that brought out the color of her eyes. Her tan skin skin also brought out the color in her eyes. She was unmistakeably Beautiful.

I smiled up at her, "Ya, and you call yourself proper? Tell that to the millions of guys you dated sister!"

She playfully tackled me and we both ended up on the ground laughing.

Of course Rakan had to say, "Girls gone wild."

Preatty soon we teamed up and tackled Rakan.

All seemed good until I had feeling a true blood human was watching us...
