Aspen's POV

"Lock the doors and close the curtains"

I tell my younger sister, Forrest, as i walk upstairs to get the shotgun my dad has left in his safe. I see that she runs to the back door to do what she was told to.

Once i come back downstairs i see that she has locked the front door and turns to my direction. Fear evident in her eyes. i grab her hand and lead her to my bedroom and tell her to hide underneath the bed. i look out my window that shows the entrance to my house. and see the grass covering the driveway, the broken car i used to drive. I also see that there are 20 walkers enclosing around my house.

One of them being my own mother.

I then hear the walkers scratching at the door and their low growls below me. i only have two bullets left and there is no way out the house.

You might wonder how the hell it all ended up like this. how everything has become a distaster and our world has broken into a scrap of nothingness. Our only goal is survival.

Well...
It was the last day of senior year. i hugged and waved goodbye to all my friends at school in the hallway. i then hear a loud scream coming from the left side of the hallway and i turn to see girls and guys screaming and running. blood on their clothes. everyone then starts running down to the exit of the school. i try to run as fast as my legs could go confusion running through me not knowing what happened. the door was just meters away but there was a crowd of screaming people trying to get out in front of me. I look behind me to see my best friend, Fern, screaming as the Quarterback , Sam, bit into her neck.

"FERN" i scream as she falls to the floor. This caught his attention and he looked up at me. His face pale as snow. his eyes where black and bloodshot, fresh blood covers his mouth. he turns his head to the side and then growls inhumanely and then he starts running towards me. i turn around and push past the people i front of me and ran for my car.

I got into the grey car and locked the doors i then put the keys in and drove as fast as i could back home.

What happened i thought to myself. flashbacks of Fern came into my head. i could feel the warm tears falling from my eyes rolling down my face. i then wipe them off and focus on getting home.
